The hit show The Bear is officially coming back for a fifth season, FX recently confirmed. After the big launch of season four just last week, the Emmy-winning comedy-drama got the green light for another run. Fans can look forward to seeing the new season sometime in 2026.

FX Chairman John Landgraf shared his excitement about the show’s ongoing success. He said, “The Bear continues to be a fan favorite worldwide and their response to this season, as seen through incredibly high viewership, has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons.”

He also praised the work of creator Chris Storer, the cast, and the crew, saying they consistently make “The Bear one of the best shows on television,” and that they’re thrilled to keep telling this powerful story.

Created by Christopher Storer, The Bear follows the story of Carmy Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White. Carmy is a skilled chef who leaves behind his fancy restaurant life to take over his late brother’s struggling Italian beef sandwich shop in Chicago.

The show is a mix of comedy and drama, focusing on Carmy’s struggles to fix the messy kitchen while facing his own personal pain and family problems. Other important actors include Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, and Liza Colón-Zayas.

The series first premiered on FX on Hulu on June 23, 2022, with all episodes of the first season released at once. The second season followed exactly one year later, on June 22, 2023. Season three was renewed at the end of 2023 and released on June 26, 2024. Season four, which was announced before season three aired, premiered on June 25, 2025. The fifth season was confirmed in July 2025.

Critics and viewers have praised The Bear for its writing, directing, acting, and especially for its realistic look at life in a kitchen. The show also deals with tough topics like trauma and suicide in a way that feels honest, earning respect from both fans and the restaurant community.

The Bear has won 21 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, directing awards for Chris Storer, and acting awards for Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Other cast members like Ayo Edebiri, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jon Bernthal have also won Emmys. The series has also earned five Golden Globes, including Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy in 2024.

The main cast includes Carmy, Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), who runs the restaurant, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), the young sous-chef, and Marcus (Lionel Boyce), a baker who becomes a pastry chef under Carmy’s guidance. Other familiar faces include Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas), Natalie (Abby Elliott), and Neil Fak (Matty Matheson).

There are also important recurring roles, such as Jon Bernthal as Michael, Carmy’s late brother who struggled with addiction before his death, and Oliver Platt as Jimmy Kalinowski, a close family friend and investor. The show has built a strong group of characters who bring depth and emotion to the story.
