Last year, we learned that Prime Video has officially ordered a new prequel series called Vought Rising, set in the world of The Boys. The show will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who are returning to their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront.

The series is set in the 1950s and will explore the origins of Vought, the powerful company behind the superheroes, along with the early adventures of Soldier Boy. It also dives into the dark schemes of Stormfront, who back then was known as Clara Vought.

Executive producers Paul Grellong and Eric Kripke shared their excitement about the project, saying, “We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”

Aya Cash joined The Boys in Season 2 as Stormfront, who was the first successful Compound V subject with plasma powers. Her character had a dark Nazi past that caused tension with others on the show.

Stormfront’s story ended dramatically in Season 3 when she took her own life. Now, seeing what she and Soldier Boy got up to in the ’50s promises to be an exciting new chapter.

The showrunner for Vought Rising will be Paul Grellong, who will also executive produce alongside Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and others. The series is a joint production between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, working with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Jensen Ackles first appeared as Soldier Boy, who is Vought’s first superhero and a true war hero with CIA ties during the Cold War. After causing chaos in Season 3, his character was put back on ice but was revealed to be held by Vought again at the end of Season 4. The timing of this prequel fits perfectly with that storyline.

On top of the returning leads, Vought Rising has also added four new cast members: Jorden Myrie, Nicoló Pasetti, Brian J. Smith, and Ricky Staffieri.

Jorden Myrie, known for roles in Sherwood and Bridgerton, has appeared in several other projects like The Strays and Screw. Nicoló Pasetti’s credits include The German, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, and The Queen’s Gambit. Ricky Stafferi, famous for playing Theodore Fak in The Bear and also an executive producer there, has acted in This Is Us and Better Call Saul. Brian J. Smith is recognized for his work in Stargate Universe, Sense8, and The Matrix Resurrections, among others.
