‘The Boys’ Prequel ‘Vought Rising’ Receives Major Production Update & Reveals First Look At the Characters
A new chapter in The Boys universe is about to begin, and it’s going back in time. Prime Video has confirmed that the upcoming prequel series, Vought Rising, starts filming this month.
First announced during the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, the show will bring back Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront. This time, the story takes place in the 1950s and will dig into the dark beginnings of Vought. At the center of it all is a twisted murder mystery, mixed with Soldier Boy’s earliest adventures and Stormfront’s ruthless schemes.
According to Prime Video, the cast also includes Mason Dye as Bombsight, Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, and Will Hochman as Torpedo. The streamer even released first-look portraits of these four characters, describing them as “once upon a time, these four were as American as apple pie.”
Aya Cash returns as Stormfront, joined by other series regulars like Jorden Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri, and Brian J. Smith. Their roles are still a mystery for now.
While filming kicks off this month, there’s no premiere date or trailer yet. Let’s check out the characters.
1. Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy

He was America’s first and greatest superhero before Homelander and the former leader of the superhero team Payback. Solider Boy has been an important character in the show since season 1 and quickly turned out to be a fan favorite due to his foul mouth and the fact that he was the only one who can take down Homelander that we know off. Soldier Boy is expected to be one of the two main characters of the show. Now much is known about his activities during the 1950s, but we do know that he met Stormfront during her time as Liberty, as the two of them founded Herogasm together in 1952.
2. Mason Dye as Bombsight

Not much is known about Bombsight, except that he probably got his dose of Compound V directly from Frederick Vought. That’s what turned him into a Supe and gave him his powers.
Back in 1953, Bombsight even starred in a thriller film called The Curse of Fu Manchu. Fans first met him in season four of The Boys, and his story will expand in the upcoming prequel.
3. Will Hochman as Torpedo

Nothing is known about Torpedo as he wasn’t referenced in the show yet, but we do know that he was among the very first supes alongside Solider Boy. You might know Will Hochman from his appearance as Joe Hill in Blue Bloods.
4. Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel

Just like Torpedo and Bombsight, Private Angel is a new character, and we know virtually nothing about her until the show releases. Elizabeth Posey is best known for playing Becky in the hit series Euphoria, Tammy in the film Gully, and for her role in the wrestling drama Heels (2021). She also made an appearance in the long-running comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005).
5. Aya Cash as Stormfront / Liberty

There’s no new character poster for Stormfront yet, but fans of The Boys already have a good idea of what to expect. In the 1950s, she went by the name Liberty. Sometime around then, she met Soldier Boy, and the two became close. In 1952, they co-founded an annual event called “Herogasm,” where countless superheroes gathered for a massive o****, and the pair had a fling during it. Around this period, she was also responsible for at least one racially motivated murder.
