The Conjuring: Last Rites is an upcoming supernatural horror movie. It is directed by Michael Chaves and stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. They return as Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life paranormal investigators. This movie is a sequel to The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) and the ninth film in The Conjuring Universe. James Wan and Peter Safran are producing the film once again.

During WB’s CinemaCon presentation this year new details regarding the movie have been revealed. Last Rites will follow the final case of the Warrens, making it the final film in the mainline franchise.

Before The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It was released in June 2021, director Michael Chaves spoke about the possibility of more films in the series. He mentioned in an interview that the ending of the last movie left room for new stories.

Both Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga were interested in continuing their roles. Farmiga shared her excitement, saying that each new movie had to be scarier than the last because demonology is already intense.

In October 2022 it confirmed that a fourth Conjuring movie was being developed. The screenplay was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, with James Wan and Peter Safran as producers. Before The Nun II was released in September 2023, Chaves hinted that the script for the new Conjuring film was still being worked on. He also revealed that the movie was planned to be a big conclusion to the previous films in the franchise.

The movie is set to be released in the United States on September 5, 2025.
