The CW wants to expand their universe of DC shows even more. As reported by Variety, a Gotham Knights TV series is in development with Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux, and Chad Fiveash attached to the project. The mentioned trio worked on the Batwoman series, which is on its third season right now.

The report is saying that the Gotham Knights TV series is NOT Batwoman spin-off, and it’s not tied to the Gotham Knights video game, which is set to launch next year on PC and both previous and new generations of Xbox and PlayStation consoles. So, this is a separate project. Considering that the show isn’t a Batwoman spin-off, it’s likely that this show isn’t connected to the Arrowverse. We’ll need to wait for more info to know for sure.

The premise of the show? Classical Gotham Knight-ish. You can check it out below:

In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights.

The video game based on Gotham Knights is set to launch next year (the exact date is still TBA). The game will feature four playable characters – Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood.

Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux, and Chad Fiveash are currently writers and executive producers on Batwoman, the TV series set in the Arrowverse with Javicia Leslie playing the titular role. The series is currently on its third season. The development of Gotham Knights doesn’t necessarily mean that Batwoman might be coming to an end, although it’s still unknown if the fourth season will happen.

Gotham Knights will be the latest DC series on the CW. The series will be produced by Greg Berlanti, who is producing all the Arrowverese shows; The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Stargirl, Batwoman, and Superman & Lois. Arrow, Supergirl, and Black Lightning are Arrowverse shows that are already concluded.
