The Dark Knight Star Christian Bale Would Love To Play Batman Again On One Condition
Christian Bale is known as one of the best actors of his generation. Ever since he finished his work on The Dark Knight trilogy in 2012, he became a megastar that can basically pick his roles. He starred in acclaimed movies like American Hustle, The Big Short, Vice, Ford v Ferrari, and he’s also set to star in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, which is set to be released in theaters next month.
Although he’s also known as Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, Alfred Borden from The Prestige, and John Connor from Terminator Salvation, Christian Bale is probably best known to a wider audience thanks to the role of Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight trilogy. Christopher Nolan wrote and directed all three movies between 2005 and 2012, all three movies were praised and they’re considered some of the best superhero movies ever made.
After finishing The Dark Knight Rises, Bale said that he has no interest in starring in superhero movies anymore because he finds them uninteresting from an acting perspective. Still, he agreed to take part in Thor: Love and Thunder after he was impressed with Taika Waititi’s script, which means that you should never say never.
Considering that Michael Keaton is set to return to the role of Batman next year in The Flash movie and the upcoming Batgirl movie, and it’s sort of becoming a trend for actors to return to roles they once played long ago, Christian Bale was also asked if he’d be up to play The Dark Knight again. Bale said that he made a deal with Christopher Nolan for three movies, but if Nolan would ever ask him, he would be up for it.
“No one’s ever mentioned it to me. No one’s brought it up. […] Occasionally people say to me, “Oh, I hear you were approached and offered all this.” And I’m like, “That’s news to me. No one’s ever said that.” I had a pact with Chris Nolan. We said, “Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.” In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, “You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.” And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.” — Christian Bale for ScreenRant
Christopher Nolan is currently one of the best directors in Hollywood. Following The Dark Knight trilogy, he also worked on acclaimed films like Interstellar, Tener, Dunkirk, and his next movie, Oppenheimer, is set to be released next year. It is very unlikely that Nolan would be up to make another Batman movie, particularly because he finished the story in a proper way at the end of Rises, and let’s not forget that Matt Reeves is currently on the scene with his Batman who is played by Robert Pattinson. Pattinson debuted as Batman last March, and the sequel is currently in development.
