‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Is Finally Coming to Disney Plus Sooner Than You Expected

Few sequels have generated the kind of cultural electricity that ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ managed to create in the months before its theatrical debut. The teaser trailer alone, released in November 2025, racked up more than 180 million views in its first 24 hours, and the first full-length trailer went on to become the most-watched 20th Century Studios trailer ever with 222 million views. The fashion world, the entertainment press, and a very dedicated audience of millennial women had been circling this one for years.

Twenty years after making their iconic turns as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci returned to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway Magazine. The creative team behind the original came back as well, with director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna both returning for the sequel. New additions to the cast included Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Simone Ashley, Patrick Brammall, and Rachel Bloom, with Lady Gaga making a cameo appearance and performing the lead single alongside Doechii.

The result was one of the most emphatic box office victories in recent Hollywood memory. The film opened to $77 million domestically and $234 million worldwide in its first weekend, marking the biggest opening of Meryl Streep’s career and the highest opening for a traditional comedy since ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ in 2015. Audiences awarded it an 87% Rotten Tomatoes Verified Moviegoers score, a 4.5 out of 5.0 PostTrak score, and an “A-” CinemaScore, with nearly three-quarters of opening weekend crowds being women.

Now, the sequel’s home viewing chapter is officially underway. Disney’s 20th Century Studios has confirmed that ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ will land on Disney+ and Hulu on July 29, with the film also arriving on digital platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home on June 30. The news arrives on the back of a theatrical run that has been nothing short of remarkable. The sequel has grossed $676 million at the global box office, propelling the entire franchise past the $1 billion mark when combined with the original film’s $326 million haul.

The physical media release is also confirmed, with 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray editions arriving on July 28, featuring bonus content including fashion and music featurettes, audio commentary with the filmmakers, and a gag reel. Fans of the original can also pick up a DVD-digital bundle featuring both films starting June 30, a fitting nod given that the original’s massive DVD sales were part of what made a sequel financially justifiable after two decades.
