Disney recently gave a sneak peek at the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada during their big presentation at CinemaCon. Anne Hathaway couldn’t be there in person, but she sent a video to say hello and talk about how much the first movie still means to people today.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the new footage shows that Miranda Priestly is just as mean as ever as she heads back to the office. The scene starts with Meryl Streep sitting in a meeting and basically destroying every idea her employees come up with.

She looks totally bored and annoyed by everything around her. At one point in the clip, she let out a big sigh and said, “May my suicide be brief and painless.” It seems like the fashion world hasn’t changed her much, even if the times have moved on.

We also got to see a quick montage of fancy clothes and some scenes shot in Italy. One shot shows Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt together on a boat, which looks like a far cry from their busy days in New York.

The whole original gang is back, including Stanley Tucci, but there are some new faces like Lucy Liu and Kenneth Branagh joining the cast this time around. In this new story, Miranda is facing a tough time because magazines aren’t doing as well as they used to.

She ends up going head-to-head with Emily, who is now a powerful boss at a rival fashion company. They are fighting over the same sponsors and money while Miranda starts thinking about finally retiring. Filming took place in both New York and Milan last year, and the sets were constantly surrounded by huge crowds of fans.

Emily Blunt told Vogue that the massive amount of hype for the movie is pretty wild. She said, “All of this attention and obsession with the quick consumption of this movie before it’s even out … in many ways is emblematic of how our industry and our lives have changed.”

Meryl Streep also noticed the difference, saying it felt amazing to film on the same streets where they worked twenty years ago. “It felt jubilant when I first got out on Sixth Avenue, where we filmed 20 years ago, and nobody was interested. I got changed, got out of my camper, and just heard this roar!” she shared.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, which is exactly twenty years after the original came out. Fans are already counting down the days to see if Andy and Emily can finally outsmart their old boss. It looks like it will be one of the biggest hits of the summer season.
