Despite everything that’s happening at Warner Bros. Discovery now, HBOMax is still working to expand its roster of original content. Earlier this year, Deadline confirmed that Supergirl star Melissa Benoist is set to star in the upcoming drama series The Girls On The Bus, and now, Deadline also reported that Carla Gugino is set to join the series as the mentor of Benoist’s character.
The Girls On The Bus will follow Melissa Benoist’s Sadie McCarthy, who is a journalist who loves Tim Crouse’s Boys on the Bus book. She will find herself among three more journalists who will follow a parade of presidential candidates while finding friendships and scandals along the way. The other three journalists will be played by Gugino, Natasha Behnam, and Christina Elmore.
Deadline’s report is saying that Gugino will play Grace Gordon Greene, a veteran reporter who will also be a mentor to Benoist’s Sadie. She is also known as the Queen of the Scoop.
Amy Chozick and Julie Plec serve as writers and the executive producers of the series. Melissa Benoist also serves as the producer. Rina Mimoun, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter are credited as showrunners and executive producers.
Carla Gugino’s upcoming projects also include Peacock’s TV series Leopard Skin, Netlfix’s miniseries The Fall of the House of Usher, and the horror comedy movie Lisa Frankenstein.
