Fans of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ have something to look forward to! While the final season of the hit Hulu series is set to premiere on April 8th, a sequel series called ‘The Testaments’ is already in the works. Now, there’s a big update on the show’s casting.

On Thursday, it was announced that actress Chase Infiniti has been cast as Agnes, one of the lead characters in ‘The Testaments.’ She will join Anne Dowd, who is expected to return as Aunt Lydia, a role she played in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale.’ The series has been in development since 2022 and is expected to start filming at the end of March. However, Hulu has not officially confirmed a series order yet.

‘The Testaments’ is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name. The story takes place 15 years after ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and follows three main characters: Aunt Lydia, Agnes (who grows up in Gilead), and Daisy (who lives in Canada). The book reveals more secrets about Gilead and its resistance movement.

Infiniti, who will play Agnes, is best known for her role in Apple TV+’s ‘Presumed Innocent,’ where she starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga. In the TV version of ‘The Testaments,’ Agnes is said to be the daughter of June (Elisabeth Moss) and Luke (O-T Fagbenle). This was hinted at in the book but not clearly stated. It is still unknown if Moss will appear in the sequel.

Bruce Miller, the showrunner of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ will also lead ‘The Testaments.’ He will be working with executive producer Warren Littlefield to bring the story to life. Littlefield has said that even though ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ was written years ago, its themes are still very relevant today, making ‘The Testaments’ an important continuation.

While details about the final season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ remain a mystery, this casting update for ‘The Testaments’ gives fans a glimpse into what’s coming next. With filming set to begin soon, we can expect more updates in the near future!
