Mckenna Grace has been acting since childhood, with roles in ‘Crash & Bernstein’, ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ and the ‘Scream’ franchise. She was most recently seen in ‘Scream 7’ and stars as Daphne in Netflix’s live-action ‘Scooby-Doo’ series.

Her biggest project yet arrives this month. Grace plays District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner in ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’, and the press tour has kept her in the spotlight for weeks.

During that press tour, Grace opened up about the kind of roles she turns down. Speaking to Cosmopolitan for the magazine’s new ‘Hunger Games’ digital issue, she explained why she avoids nude scenes.

“At this point, I definitely don’t do nudity or very hypersexual things,” Grace told Cosmopolitan. “I respect anybody who can, but it’s terrifying to me. I don’t know if that’ll ever change.”

Her comments drew wide attention after Deadline and Variety picked them up. Many fans praised her for being honest about her boundaries while still showing respect for actors who make different choices.

Grace also revealed a bigger goal that shapes her career decisions. She explained that her dream is to one day play a Disney princess. That long-term ambition helps explain why she’s careful about the roles she accepts. For an actress who grew up working in family-friendly projects, it’s a natural goal to keep in mind.

Grace was quick to push back on the idea that she only takes on sweet, family-friendly parts. She pointed out that her character literally gets gutted by Ghostface in ‘Scream’. Her résumé backs that up. Along with horror projects like ‘Scream’ and ‘The Haunting of Hill House’, she is now starring in one of the darker entries in the ‘Hunger Games’ saga.

That range shows that avoiding nudity hasn’t limited her to light material. Grace has repeatedly taken on intense and emotionally demanding work. In ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’, Grace plays Maysilee alongside Joseph Zada, who stars as a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy.

The prequel is set 24 years before ‘The Hunger Games’ and follows Haymitch through a Quarter Quell, when each district sends twice the usual number of tributes. Francis Lawrence directs from a screenplay by Billy Ray and Michael Lesslie, based on Suzanne Collins’ novel. The cast also includes Glenn Close, Maya Hawke, Elle Fanning, Billy Porter and Jesse Plemons.

Grace’s connection to the franchise goes beyond the role. She told Cosmopolitan she was a ‘Hunger Games’ fan long before joining the cast and has even made fan edits of the films. That love has also shaped her press tour, where her outfits have paid tribute to Katniss, Rue and Lucy Gray Baird.

She has called the looks an homage to everyone who was part of the franchise before her. Her Cosmopolitan cover, shot by Richard Kern, is part of an issue celebrating the film’s new generation of stars, with separate covers for co-stars Whitney Peak and Maya Hawke.

Grace’s comments add to a broader conversation about how young actors handle intimate content on screen. Her approach is simple: she makes choices that feel right for her without judging others.

Whether or not her stance changes, she clearly knows what she wants from her career. With ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ arriving in theaters on November 20, she could soon be closer to that Disney dream than ever.
