‘The Last of Us’ Star Reportedly Targeted for An MCU Role

Bella Ramsey, best known for their role in The Last of Us, might soon be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This news comes from industry insider Daniel Richtman, who shared the rumor on his Patreon page. If true, it would be a big move for Ramsey, adding a major new project to their already impressive career.
Ramsey first caught the public’s eye as Lyanna Mormont on HBO’s Game of Thrones. They played the role from 2016 to 2019, which was their first credited acting job. Fans loved their fierce and confident character, and critics agreed. The Hollywood Reporter called Ramsey “season 6’s breakout star.” They kept delivering strong performances through the final seasons.
After Game of Thrones, Ramsey starred as Mildred Hubble in the TV adaptation of The Worst Witch starting in 2017. For this role, they won the Young Performer award at the 2019 British Academy Children’s Awards. The character was later played by Lydia Page in the last season.
In 2018, Ramsey gave voice to the main character in Netflix’s animated show Hilda. This role earned them a BAFTA award for Best Children’s Animation in 2019 along with the show’s creative team. Ramsey even showed off their singing skills with the song “The Life of Hilda”, which came out in late 2020. They returned as Hilda in a 2021 special movie called Hilda and the Mountain King.
The role that really put Ramsey in the spotlight again was Ellie in HBO’s The Last of Us, a series based on a popular video game. Acting alongside Pedro Pascal, Ramsey earned a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2023. They thought about withdrawing from the awards because the categories weren’t non-gendered, but after talking to showrunner Craig Mazin, Ramsey decided to stay. They didn’t want limited language to stop non-binary performers from being celebrated. Their nomination was notable because it was only the second time a non-binary actor was nominated and the first time for a leading role.
In September 2023, Ramsey was included on Time magazine’s 100 Next list, which highlights rising influential people. Fellow non-binary actor Emma D’Arcy praised Ramsey, calling them “an inspiring figure in the LGBTQIA+ community.”
