‘The Last of Us’ Star Says They Want to Play Spider-Man

Bellay Ramsey, the breakout star of “The Last of Us,” recently shared their thoughts on superhero movies, and even hinted they wouldn’t mind suiting up as one. The conversation came up after talking about their co-star Pedro Pascal’s latest work in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” a project that’s been drawing attention in the superhero world.

“You didn’t call [Pascal] and say you wanted to be in the next MCU movie?” a reporter asked during the interview.

“I don’t know about that,” Ramsey laughed. “I could be Spider-Man. Tom Holland did a great job though. So maybe they do need to make a new [superhero] for me.”

Ramsey admitted that they are relatively new to superhero films. In fact, they’ve only ever seen one, an Andrew Garfield “Spider-Man” movie, which they watched just a few months ago.

“It was the first time I watched a Marvel film, and that was two months, three months ago,” they said. But even as a newcomer, Ramsey was clearly impressed: “Incredible. I loved it.”

Beyond superhero fantasies, Ramsey has a very busy year ahead. They are set to appear in two upcoming films, Sunny Dancer and Harmonia, and will also star in the TV series Maya. Their rising star power has not gone unnoticed, as they are nominated for an Emmy for the second year in a row for their role as Ellie in The Last of Us.

The series itself is heading into Emmy night on September 14 with a total of 17 nominations, highlighting its widespread acclaim and Ramsey’s central role in its success.

For fans of superhero movies, or just great TV, Ramsey’s combination of humor, talent, and excitement for new roles makes them someone to watch in the coming year. While Spider-Man may not be in their immediate future, it’s clear Ramsey is open to exploring bold new roles and expanding their career in exciting ways.
