The Legendary Actor Emily Blunt Says Is Truly Wonderful
Emily Blunt has a resume that is truly a list of Hollywood royalty, having shared the screen with legends like Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, and Dwayne Johnson. Out of all the famous actors she has collaborated with, she once went out of her way to describe one specific person as a “wonderful” partner.
Back in 2005, a younger Blunt sat down for an interview with the Australian outlet The Age and couldn’t stop talking about a co-star she had just worked with. While she was promoting her film My Summer of Love, she mentioned that this particular actress was frighteningly smart and a true artist.
The person she was so impressed by was Susan Sarandon, a staple of the industry since the 1980s. The two worked together on the 2006 thriller Irresistible, which was a very different kind of role for Blunt at the time. In that movie, she played a character named Mara who ends up being a terrifying villain, eventually harassing Sarandon’s character and her family.
Since their time working on that psychological drama, both women have seen their careers reach incredible heights. Sarandon stayed busy with major films like The Lovely Bones, while Blunt transformed into a massive star with hits like The Devil Wears Prada and the A Quiet Place series.
As of February, Emily Blunt is at the absolute top of her game. She started the year on a high note, attending the Golden Globes where she was nominated for her raw performance in the A24 drama The Smashing Machine. In that film, she played Dawn Staples alongside Dwayne Johnson, and the movie has been a major hit since its release late last year.
The next few months are going to be even bigger for her. In May, Blunt will finally return to one of her most famous roles in The Devil Wears Prada 2. The sequel follows her character, Emily Charlton, who is now a high-powered executive at a luxury brand that Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly desperately needs help from.
Just a few weeks later, on June 12, she will star in Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi epic Disclosure Day, playing a meteorologist caught in a global alien encounter. Susan Sarandon is also receiving major honors this year. On February 28, she is set to receive the International Goya Award in Barcelona to celebrate her “extraordinary” career.
While Blunt is exploring the stars with Spielberg and Sarandon is being honored for her legacy, many fans are still holding out hope that these two “true artists” will find a way to work together again soon.
Do you think Emily Blunt’s character in the new Devil Wears Prada sequel will finally get the revenge on Miranda Priestly that fans have been waiting twenty years to see? Share your thoughts in the comments.
