‘The Lord of the Rings’ Trilogy to Be Re-Released, Release Dates Announced
To celebrate 25 years since The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring first hit theaters, Fathom Entertainment and Warner Bros. are bringing Peter Jackson’s full trilogy back to cinemas.
The extended editions of all three films will be shown in DBOX format from January 16 to 19, and then in regular theaters from January 23 to 25, according to Fathom and Warner Bros.
Fans will also have the chance to enjoy special Lord of the Rings themed snacks. AMC theaters will offer popcorn buckets featuring maps of Middle Earth, while Regal and other local cinemas will have buckets shaped like the One Ring. A new anniversary logo and trailer for the trilogy have also been released to mark the milestone.

The extended editions are longer than the original theatrical releases, which together ran just over nine hours.
The extended versions total about 11 and a half hours, giving audiences a more detailed experience of the story. These editions were first released on home video a year after each film appeared in theaters.
Fathom and Warner Bros. previously brought the extended editions back to theaters in 2024 with 4K Ultra remasterings, giving fans another chance to see the films on the big screen.
