The Mandalorian: Is Bo-Katan in Love with Din? Will She End Up with Him?

The Mandalorian season 3 wasn’t too shy about adding another prominent Mandalorian to the Mandalorian duo of Din Djarin and Grogu as the titular character started working increasingly with Bo-Katan Kryze, who has been around since the events of Star Wars: Clone Wars. Of course, it goes without saying that Din’s relationship with Bo-Katan improved as the season went by, as it was clear that they trusted each other more than any other Mandalorian did. Bo-Katan, of course, was quick to help Din whenever he needed her. So, is Bo-Katan in love with Din Djarin?
Nothing has been confirmed regarding the feelings of Bo-Katan Kryze for Din Djarin or vice versa. In fact, their relationship was more of a mutual partnership of respect throughout the series. But this could be an angle the creators might use in the future, especially if they want to add romance to The Mandalorian.
The romance was never the strongest suit of the Star Wars franchise, but the romantic angles used throughout the franchise’s history were done extremely well. Of course, the Mandalorians aren’t also known to be romantic people. Still, there’s a good chance that Din and Bo-Katan could end up in a romantic relationship, especially because it is important to ensure that Mandalore gets to live on through future generations. Now, let’s look at this topic in detail.
Bo-Katan’s Relationship with Din
Since the start of season 3 of The Mandalorian, things between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze were becoming more and more personal as the two Mandalorians started working together more. This relationship was basically non-existent back in season 2 when Bo-Katan made her live-action debut. Back then, Din and Bo-Katan were more professional with each other as they knew they could benefit from one another.
However, the relationship has changed since episode 2 of season 3 of The Mandalorian. For one, when Din asked Grogu to go to Bo-Katan’s planet to help him escape the creature that had captured him while he was exploring Mandalore, Kryze didn’t hesitate to help the titular Mandalorian despite the dangers that came with going to Mandalore. She placed herself in harm’s way to save a man she hardly knew. And the Bo-Katan that we knew back in the events of the Clone Wars wouldn’t do something like this.
Of course, there’s also the fact that Kryze was willing to work with Djarin on the many different missions that they undertook together. They saved Ragnar together. She also supported Din’s willingness to try to help Nevarro with the planet’s pirate problems even though no other Mandalorian (except for Paz Vizsla) was willing to help Djarin in his quest to save an old friend. They also ended up going to Plazir-15 together to try to convince the other Mandalorians to join their cause in taking Mandalore back.
The relationship, of course, became more and more personal between the two when they were already on Mandalore and were working to rid their home planet of the Imperials that have been using it as their base. When Din Djarin was struggling in his fight with Moff Gideon and was looking to come to the aid of Grogu, who had his hands full with the Praetorian Guard, Bo-Katan rushed in to take on the Moff and allowed Din to save his kid.
Regardless of how close Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze have become, nothing has been confirmed about their possible romantic feelings for each other. It might be true that Bo-Katan had found a close ally and friend in Din, who has integral to her success in the events of season 3. But that doesn’t mean she is in love with him or willing to start a romantic relationship.
The entire storyline of season 3 of The Mandalorian focuses more on the overall relationship that the Mandalorians have with one another because they need to be united in their efforts to take Mandalore back. As such, there was never any time to explore Bo-Katan’s feelings for Din (if there were any) because they were both so focused on keeping their people together and defeating Moff Gideon’s Imperial remnants.
Is There Something More Behind Din’s Relationship with Bo-Katan?
But while it might be true that nothing has been confirmed regarding Bo-Katan’s feelings for Din, it is too difficult to ignore the possibility that there could be something more between their relationship. After all, Din had become quite comfortable with Bo-Katan. And we all know that Lady Kryze has regarded the titular Mandalorian as her greatest ally during the events of season 3.
Din believed in Bo-Katan’s leadership so much that he was willing to allow a loophole to shift the ownership of the Darksaber to Kryze. But the best part about this relationship was seen in episode 7 when they were on their way to the Great Forge with the other Mandalorians.
Bo-Katan had a vulnerable moment when she told the Mandalorians that she had given Mandalore up to Moff Gideon during the Rebellion so that her people would be spared from the wrath of the Empire. While giving up was never in line with the Way of the Mandalore, Bo-Katan loved her people so much that she was willing to turn her back on tradition to save them. But as we all know, it amounted to nothing because Gideon still decided to bomb the planet anyway.
After that vulnerable moment, Din went to an emotional Bo-Katan to tell her that her story was not yet over and that she could lead all of the Mandalorians. Din also told her that there was a good reason why he chose to follow her.
“What means more to me is honor and loyalty and character. These are the reasons I serve you, Lady Kryze. Your song has not yet written. I will serve you until it is.”
While there is nothing romantic about what Din Djarin said, it is more closely in line with a knight pledging his loyalty and life to a lady that he admires so much that he is willing to give his life to her. This is quite Arthurian in terms of its approach, as we all know that the Knights of the Round Table all swore their loyalty to Guinevere. Of course, in this case, Din Djarin would have to be the Lancelot to Bo-Katan Kryze’s Lady Guinevere.
We all know that Bo-Katan’s romantic life has never been explored since her character was introduced in Clone Wars. That means that she has always been available for any romantic relationship. As such, this deeper relationship of loyalty and trust between her and Din Djarin might just be the start of something bigger.
Will Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze End Up Together?
At this point, there has never been anything hinted at by the series’ creators regarding the relationship between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan and whether or not something romantic about it will sprout out in the future. Of course, romance has never been the strongest suit of the Star Wars franchise, but it has done well with the romantic plots of Han and Leia and of Anakin and Padme.
The difference, however, is that the Mandalorians don’t seem like the most romantic people. It might be true that Bo-Katan’s older sister, Satine, was clearly in love with Obi-Wan Kenobi. But let’s not forget that Satine abandoned the traditional warrior ways of the Mandalorians to bring forth the more peaceful days of the New Mandalorians. As such, it wasn’t too odd for someone like her to embrace a more romantic side of herself.
On the other hand, Bo-Katan is quite traditional regarding her Mandalorian beliefs and actions. That is why she has always been quite the badass in her personality and was never romantic. But we also know that she is now the leader of the Mandalorians. All leaders are called to lead their people but are also called to make sure that the legacy of their people continues through future generations.
The Children of the Watch are known to adopt foundlings into their tribe and induct them as Mandalorians. But the other Mandalorians take the biological approach by actually procreating with one another. That would mean that Bo-Katan and her royal blood would need to procreate. And Din Djarin seems to be the most fitting Mandalorian to procreate with because of his admiration for Bo-Katan’s leadership and stature.
Then again, Bo-Katan might already be too old to bear children because she has been around since the events of the Clone Wars, which happened around three decades before The Mandalorian. So, even if she gets herself romantically involved with Din, she probably won’t be able to procreate anymore.
