The Marvels: Brie Larson Praises Her Co-Stars Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani
The upcoming MCU movie The Marvels, previously titled Captain Marvel 2, is less than a year away. Although we have three more MCU movies to watch before we see the return of a powerful cosmic superhero Carol Danvers, the main star Brie Larson didn’t forget to remind us about the upcoming sequel to the 2019 original Captain Marvel movie.
Captain Marvel movie was released on International Women’s Day 2019, which is quite symbolic considering this was the first MCU movie centered exclusively on a female superhero. Brie Larson debuted as the titular character, and she reprised the role only a few weeks later in Avengers: Endgame. Following the conclusion of MCU’s Phase 3, the question about the sequel to the original Captain Marvel movie arose.
Captain Marvel 2 was officially announced in December 2020, and three months later it was reported that the movie changed its title to The Marvels. With Brie Larson set to reprise the role, the sequel will also feature Teyonah Parris, who debuted as Monica Rambeau in the Disney+ series WandaVision, and Iman Vellani, who is set to debut later this year as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in her own Disney+ series before she reprises the role in The Marvels next year.
The International Women’s Day 2022 was yesterday, which also marked the third anniversary of the Captain Marvel movie’s release. In the name of that, Larson shared one fanart on her Twitter account and expressed praise to her co-stars Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani, calling them her sisters.
The Marvels will be directed by Nia DaCosta, from the screenplay written by Megan McDonnell, while Kevin Feige, of course, is the producer of the project. With the three main stars, the movie will also star Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and Zawe Ashton in an undisclosed villain role.
The Marvels is set to be released on February 17, 2023.
