If we need to name the three most anticipated movies in Q4 of 2021, that’d be Dune, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and The Matrix Resurrections. And although we just entered the final month of 2021, two of these three movie giants still need to be released.
John Wick and The Matrix star Keanu Reeves returns in the long-awaited sequel to the original Matrix trilogy, which began in 1999 and concluded in 2003. Now, 18 years later, the fourth installment, written and directed by Lana Wachowski, who co-wrote and co-directed the original trilogy with Lilly Wachowski.
Reeves is back as Neo, and other Matrix veterans Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson, and Daniel Bernhardt are also returning. Newcomers in the franchise include Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who will replace Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus.

Resurrections is set around 20 years since the last movie. Neo is now living a life of an ordinary man in San Francisco. But when his therapist prescribes him blue pills, he and Trinity won’t recognize each other. Morpheus will soon show up and offer him the red pill, which will reopen Neo’s mind back to the Matrix.
Warner Bros. announced today that tickets will go on sale on December 6. And in the name of that, a new trailer, featuring more footage of Neo in the real world, was revealed.
Directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections is set to be released on December 22, 2021.
