The New X-Men Cast Signed for a Lot More than Just One Team-up Movie According to New Reports

Marvel’s rebooted ‘X-Men‘ has been rolling out its cast in careful stages over the past several months, introducing Sadie Sink as Jean Grey through ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ before confirming the rest of the lineup at D23. With filming set to begin at Pinewood Studios by the end of summer, most of the public conversation has focused on who’s playing who ahead of the team’s May 5, 2028 debut.

That framing treats ‘X-Men’ as a self-contained event, similar to how past reboots have launched with a single ensemble film before spinning off into solo projects. According to new reporting, though, Marvel’s plans for this cast extend considerably further than that one movie, with contracts already locking these actors into appearances well beyond their own franchise.

Puck’s Matthew Belloni addressed the scope of those deals directly during a recent mailbag episode of his podcast, The Town. Belloni said, “I do know from the deals that these X-Men stars like Sadie Sink and all of them have signed that these deals include appearances in X-Men movies and other Marvel movies.”

Belloni went further, naming a specific crossover fans hadn’t previously connected. “You’ll see like Storm pop up in Black Panther 3,” he said, before noting the rest of the X-Men cast are already confirmed for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars,’ and adding they’re “also probably in Ghost Rider.”

A Storm appearance in ‘Black Panther 3’ would track closely with her comic book history, given Ororo Munroe’s long-standing personal and romantic connections to Wakanda and T’Challa across decades of Marvel storylines. Maya Boyd, who was cast as Storm during D23, would be the one stepping into that potential crossover if the reported deal holds.

It’s worth noting that Belloni’s comments reflect his own understanding of these contracts rather than an official Marvel Studios announcement, meaning the specific film pairings should be treated as reported rather than confirmed. Even so, Belloni’s reporting has consistently offered detailed, insider-level context on Marvel’s dealmaking throughout the podcast’s run covering the studio.

The broader strategy Belloni described paints a clear picture of how Marvel intends to use its new mutant roster. Rather than treating ‘X-Men’ as an isolated franchise entry point, the studio appears to be threading these actors through the wider MCU well before and after their own team-up film, following Jean Grey’s introduction in ‘Brand New Day’ with additional appearances across ‘Doomsday,’ ‘Secret Wars,’ the ‘X-Men’ film itself, and potentially both ‘Ghost Rider’ and ‘Black Panther 3.’

Belloni framed that approach as a deliberate move, saying, “They’re using the power of the MCU to incorporate the X-Men and make their team-up that much more impactful when it comes in ’28.” Rounding out the confirmed cast alongside Sink and Boyd are Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, with the Beast role reportedly still being finalized.

If these deals hold up as reported, fans should expect to see these actors popping up across Marvel’s slate well before ‘X-Men’ ever hits theaters in 2028, turning what looked like a standard team origin story into one of the more heavily interconnected rollouts in the franchise’s recent history.
