Netflix’s partnership with Universal has quietly turned into one of the streamer’s most valuable movie pipelines. In October 2024, Netflix and Universal Filmed Entertainment Group renewed their deal for Illumination and DreamWorks animated films and added US rights to live-action Universal Pictures and Focus Features titles.

Prime Video previously held first-window rights to Universal’s live-action films, and Netflix was originally set to take over in 2027. Instead, Netflix started a year early, with the first live-action Universal film arriving in January 2026.

The deal is set to keep delivering. As What’s on Netflix reported, Universal movies will continue heading to Netflix US in the first window throughout 2027, and the outlet has shared a detailed preview of when big titles will arrive and leave.

Under the deal, movies play in theaters for up to 120 days before moving to Peacock for 4 months. Netflix then gets them for 10 months, before Peacock takes them back for a final 4 months.

Illumination’s ‘Minions & Monsters’, directed by Pierre Coffin, opened in theaters on July 1, 2026, and reached Peacock on October 28. What’s on Netflix expects it to arrive on Netflix on February 28, 2027.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, which opened on July 17, is expected to hit Peacock around February or March 2027 and Netflix around June or July. The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson.

‘Focker-in-Law’, directed by John Hamburg, opens in theaters on November 25. Starring Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Ariana Grande and Owen Wilson, it’s expected on Peacock around March 2027 and on Netflix around July.

Several other Universal titles are also set for early 2027. Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’ is expected on February 9, followed by ‘Hot Spot’ on February 16, ‘Finding Emily’ on February 23, and ‘The Uprising’ on March 6.

DreamWorks’ ‘Forgotten Island’ and the horror film ‘Other Mommy’ are expected around May. ‘Violent Night 2′ and Robert Eggers’ ‘Werwulf’ are expected around August. Netflix subscribers won’t have to wait until 2027 for new arrivals. ‘Reminders of Him’ arrives on November 10, followed by Curry Barker’s horror hit ‘Obsession’ on November 17.

‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ and ‘Pressure’ both land on November 30. ‘You, Me & Tuscany’ follows on December 7, with ‘Girls Like Girls’ expected on December 14. Some Universal titles will rotate off the service. Based on the 10-month window, What’s on Netflix estimates that ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ leaves on January 7, 2027, followed by ‘Nobody 2’ on January 14 and ‘The Bad Guys 2’ on January 21.

‘Wicked: For Good’ is expected to leave on May 20, 2027, while ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ departs on June 3. ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ leave in December 2026.

Universal’s 2027 theatrical slate will eventually follow the same path. Titles like ‘The Exorcist: Martyrs’, ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’, ‘Shrek 5’ and the Snoop Dogg biopic ‘Snoop’ are expected to reach Netflix in late 2027 or 2028.

Other outlets note that the deal mirrors Netflix’s pay-1 agreement with Sony Pictures. Netflix’s US library is set to stay packed with Universal releases for years to come. The dates are estimates based on standard release windows rather than confirmed announcements, and timing varies by country. Still, they offer a useful guide for subscribers planning their watchlists.
