The Running Man – Full Trailer Released: Edgar Wright & Glen Powell Bring Stephen King’s Vision to Life
A brand-new version of The Running Man is on the way, and it looks like it’s going to be a wild ride. The first full trailer has just been released, and fans are finally getting a closer look at what director Edgar Wright has been working on.
This isn’t a remake of the 1987 film with Arnold Schwarzenegger; it’s a fresh take that sticks more closely to the original book by Stephen King, who wrote it under the name Richard Bachman.
The movie stars Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a man thrown into a deadly game show where he has to run for his life while being hunted. The prize? A big pile of cash, but only if he survives. The story is set in a dark future where the world is falling apart, and this game show is the biggest thing on TV. It’s violent, intense, and designed to keep people distracted.
Edgar Wright, known for movies like Baby Driver and Shaun of the Dead, is not just directing but also co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall. He’s been wanting to make this movie for years. Back in 2017, Wright tweeted about how much he wanted to bring The Running Man to life. Now, it’s finally happening.
The movie also stars Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, and William H. Macy. Josh Brolin plays the cold and controlling producer of the game, while Colman Domingo takes on the role of the over-the-top host. The cast is packed with big names, and everyone seems excited about the project.
Filming started in the UK in November 2024 and wrapped up in March 2025. Some of the action scenes were even shot at Wembley Stadium. The movie is being made by Paramount Pictures, with help from Domain Entertainment. Producers include Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon, and Nira Park.
According to Paramount, this new version is not just another sci-fi action movie. “It’s a much more faithful version of King’s original story,” the studio said. That means it’s darker, grittier, and more grounded than the older film. But don’t worry — there’s still plenty of action.
Nnow that the full trailer is out, fans are getting a better idea of what the movie will actually feel like. Fast, intense, and a little bit scary, just like the book.
Along with the trailer new poster has also been released:
The Running Man hits theaters on November 7, 2025, the same day as Predator: Badlands. With that release date locked in, and the trailer finally out, it’s safe to say the countdown has officially started.
