Krustyland has long served as Springfield’s stand-in for a real-world theme park. Over the years, ‘The Simpsons’ has used Krusty the Clown’s amusement park to poke fun at everything from overpriced attractions to corporate cash grabs, and the long-running animated series appears ready to target one of the most infamous theme park flops in recent memory.

That flop is Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the immersive hotel at Walt Disney World that was designed to simulate a cruise ship in outer space. The ambitious experience closed after a short life, and few people documented it quite like video essayist Jenny Nicholson.

Now Springfield is getting its own version of the ill-fated attraction. As DiscussingFilm shared, ‘The Simpsons’ will air an episode titled ‘The Kosmic Kruiser’, in which Bart and Lisa break into Krustyland’s most notorious failed attraction, with Nicholson set to appear in a guest role.

According to the official episode description, the siblings soon discover that the attraction hasn’t been completely abandoned. The episode airs Sunday, November 8, on FOX. A promotional image shows the abandoned Kosmic Kruiser Hotel, a massive spaceship-shaped building overgrown with creeping vines behind a chain-link fence. A warning sign reads “No Admittance,” while Bart cuts through the fence as Lisa looks on.

Nicholson’s involvement makes the episode feel especially pointed. In 2024, she released ‘The Spectacular Failure of the Star Wars Hotel’, a 4-hour YouTube video essay chronicling her stay aboard the Halcyon with her sister.

The video became a viral phenomenon, earning coverage from The New York Times and Rolling Stone. Her deep dive into the experience’s flaws turned her into one of the most recognizable voices associated with the hotel’s legacy.

In the episode, Nicholson will voice KIT-10, along with a robotic voice. Many fans on social media have already praised the choice, with some calling it the most perfect casting ‘The Simpsons’ has done in years. Nicholson isn’t the only guest star joining the episode. ‘Westworld’ actor Jimmi Simpson will voice a character named Don Jeffries, as well as an additional role.

The episode was written by Brian Kelley, who also serves as co-showrunner under the series’ current production system, in which lead writers oversee select episodes. Matt Selman remains the show’s primary showrunner.

‘The Kosmic Kruiser’ is the sixth episode of season 38 and the 815th episode of the series overall. Its production code is 37ABF11, and it centers on Krusty, Bart, and Lisa. The episode joins a long tradition of ‘The Simpsons’ tackling pop culture through its own exaggerated lens. By setting the story inside Krustyland, the writers can poke fun at the real-world attraction without directly naming it.

While the episode description keeps the plot mostly under wraps, the premise suggests plenty of room for satire about immersive experiences, theme park excess, and the gap between ambitious promises and disappointing reality. The mysterious discovery inside the abandoned hotel adds a hint of intrigue to the comedy.

For fans of both ‘The Simpsons’ and Nicholson’s work, the crossover feels like a rare moment where internet culture and one of television’s longest-running shows collide in a wonderfully fitting way.
