Saturday Night Live is known for being a very tough place to work.

For over 50 years, writers and actors have fought to get their ideas on TV. Usually, the boss, Lorne Michaels, makes the final choice. But sometimes, guest hosts interfere with the plans, and that can cause a lot of drama behind the scenes.

Bobby Moynihan once shared a story about a major disagreement he had with host Jane Lynch back in 2010. Moynihan had written a weird sketch about a man celebrating reaching 600 pounds. The show even built a special set and a large fake body for him to wear. The sketch was approved and ready to go for the live broadcast.

However, right before the show started, Moynihan found out his sketch was cut. It was replaced by a sketch where Jane Lynch played financial expert Suze Orman. Moynihan was shocked because it is rare for a set-up sketch to be pulled at the last second for something new. He later found out that Lynch was the one who pushed for the change. She told him, Sorry, Suze Orman’s a friend of mine.

Moynihan was extremely upset by this. He even compared the pain of losing that sketch to the biggest tragedies in his life. He admitted that I still want to kill her to this day because she went behind his back to help a friend instead of doing the work they had prepared.

This story shows how stressful the environment at SNL really is. It seems unfair for a guest host to come in and cancel a cast member’s hard work just because they want to do a favor for a friend. Bobby Moynihan had to put in a lot of effort to get that sketch approved, and having it taken away at the last minute sounds incredibly frustrating.
