Jenny Wilder was written as Almanzo’s niece, who came to live with him and Laura after her father’s death.

Michael Landon was reportedly so impressed by Doherty’s earlier performance on his Western series ‘Father Murphy’ that he cast her in the ninth and final season of ‘Little House,’ which he also executive produced. Long before his Oscar win, Louis Gossett Jr appeared in the Season 2 episode “The Long Road Home” as Henry Hill, one of the men working with explosive liquid dynamite.
