Netflix‘s The Umbrella Academy is a superhero series based on the comic book series of the same name written by Gerard Way. It follows a dysfunctional family of former child heroes who have grown apart, but must reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and protect the world from apocalypse.
The first season was released on Netflix in 2019 and it became one of the most streamed series of the year. It was then renewed for a second season, which was released in 2020 and now the series is already renewed for its third season – set to be released in 2022.
There was a rumor going around that Euphoria star Javon Walton has been cast in The Umbrella Academy‘s third season and now that rumor is finally officially confirmed by Netflix – however, it is yet unknown what role Walton will play in the series.
In Euphoria, Walton played Ashtray, a violent teen drug dealer. He has also appeared in Prime Video’s Utopia as Grant Bishop and voiced Pugsley Addams in The Addams Family 2.
There is no much new info on the season 3, but the series star Raver-Lampman did previously revealed that the season looks “incredible” and has “a completely different energy”:
“I hope this summer because I want to see this season so badly. We’ve started doing ADR and it’s a massive season. There’s just a lot of work in post that has to be done, but the little snippets that I’ve seen so far when I’ve been working on ADR in the studio, it looks incredible and it looks so exciting, and it just has a completely different energy. So, for everybody’s sake, including my own, I really do hope it comes out this summer. I’m so ready to see it.”
The Umbrella Academy is expected to return for Season 3 sometime this year, but the release date is yet to be announced.
