Alan Ritchson has caught the attention of someone who knows Venom better than almost anyone. Venom co-creator David Michelinie recently shared that he believes Ritchson would be the perfect choice to play a live-action Eddie Brock.

The comment came from a post shared by @TheDoctorX11 on X, who spoke directly with Michelinie about the idea.

In the post, @TheDoctorX11 explained the exchange and included Michelinie’s reply. “I once posted pics of Ritchson—shirtless and one of him yelling—and said he’d make the perfect Eddie/Venom. So we’re on the same page.”

Even though Venom is already on the big screen, Michelinie’s take caught attention because the character has been portrayed in different ways over the years. Right now, Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock in Sony’s movies.

His version of the character began in the 2018 Venom film, where Eddie becomes host to the alien symbiote and ends up forming an unusual team with it. Together, they jump between trying to stay out of trouble and becoming a violent protector when danger hits.

Hardy’s version wasn’t the first time the character appeared in live action. Topher Grace played Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 3 back in 2007, giving fans an early take on the character long before the newer films arrived. Since then, Venom has shown up in several movies, including Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Venom: The Last Dance, and even a small cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Fans and critics have shared mixed views on Hardy’s performance. Some enjoyed the chaotic and humorous style he brought to Eddie. Others felt the acting leaned too far into odd choices that didn’t always work. Reviews praised the chemistry between Eddie and Venom but disagreed on how well Hardy handled the role overall.

Michelinie’s support for Ritchson adds a new spark to fan discussions. Ritchson is known for playing tough, intense characters, and his look matches the comic version of Eddie Brock more closely than past actors.

While this doesn’t confirm anything for future films, it does offer an interesting idea of how the character could look if Sony ever explored a different direction.
