T’Nia Miller Opens Up About Sharing the Screen With James Spader’s Ultron in ‘VisionQuest ‘
Marvel’s ‘VisionQuest’ has quickly become one of the MCU’s most talked-about shows, thanks in no small part to its unusual cast of artificial intelligences. The final chapter of the trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’ sees Paul Bettany’s Vision searching for meaning by consulting the AI personas embedded in his programming, including Friday, E.D.I.T.H., Jarvis, and the infamous Ultron.
The series premiered on Disney+ on October 13 with 2 episodes, and its 8-episode run concludes on November 10. Showrunner Terry Matalas has made the relationship between Vision and Ultron a central pillar of the story, with James Spader describing their bond as a father-son-therapist-psychopath dynamic.
Into that strange family drama steps T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, a fellow AI who has already proven to be a formidable foe for Vision. Now Miller is opening up about one of the show’s most compelling pairings: her character’s complicated connection to Spader’s Ultron.
Miller couldn’t say enough about her co-star. “James is a master,” she told Nerdtropolis, adding that she found the actor magnetic through and through. The feeling appears to be mutual. Spader has praised the ensemble Matalas assembled, singling out Miller as an especially wonderful scene partner.

For Miller, joining Marvel was the realization of a childhood dream. She was already a fan of ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along’ before landing the role, and she has described Jocasta as a badass and beautiful character to play.
Miller voices and performs motion capture for the character. In Marvel Comics, Jocasta is a robotic companion created by Ultron, though the series hasn’t revealed exactly how closely it will follow that history.

Jocasta made a striking impression when she squared off against Vision in a climactic ballroom showdown midway through the season. Still, Miller believes there’s more to her than a simple antagonist.
“I don’t think it’s going to be easy to hate Jocasta,” Miller told That Hollywood Show, suggesting that her backstory could win some fans over. She has also hinted that Jocasta’s connection with Ultron runs deeper than mere attraction.
Spader’s Ultron has evolved significantly since his last MCU appearance. After his body was destroyed in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, Vision uploaded him into the Mindspace, where he has spent roughly 14 years consuming the internet, television, and history, and even painting.

Spader has explained that Ultron both loves and hates Vision, and has developed a more genuine understanding of humanity. Fans have embraced the return, with many calling Ultron the highlight of the series.
Beyond Bettany, Spader and Miller, ‘VisionQuest’ features Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff and Todd Stashwick as the bounty hunter Paladin. The cast also includes Orla Brady as Friday, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H. and James D’Arcy as the original Jarvis.

Faran Tahir also returns as Raza, the Ten Rings leader from ‘Iron Man’, alongside Lauren Morais, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer. The series was filmed at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. in 2025.
With the finale approaching, the dynamic between Jocasta and Ultron looks set to be one of the season’s most intriguing threads. If Miller is right, audiences may find themselves rooting for her more than they ever expected.
