Tom Cruise (63) Makes Rare Public Appearance at Saturn Awards With Elle Fanning (27) and Rhea Seehorn (53)
Tom Cruise was a central figure at the 53rd Annual Saturn Awards, held at the Universal Hilton in Los Angeles this past Sunday. The 63-year-old actor appeared in high spirits as he celebrated the year’s best in science fiction, fantasy, and horror.
He chose a classic navy suit for the occasion, paired with a simple white button-down shirt. During the ceremony, the star took to the stage to present the Visionary Award to his longtime collaborator, Christopher McQuarrie.
The Oscar-winning director has been a pivotal force in the Mission: Impossible franchise, having directed the most recent installments. Cruise was also seen mingling with other industry leaders, including a warm exchange with Frankenstein director Guillermo del Toro.

The evening was filled with notable wins, including a Best Actress in a Film award for Elle Fanning. She was recognized for her dual role as Thia and Tessa in the 2025 science fiction feature Predator: Badlands.
While accepting her trophy, she admitted her casting in the iconic franchise was unexpected, stating, “I did not think that anyone would think of me and the iconic franchise in the same sentence.”
Rhea Seehorn was also a standout guest, attending as a nominee for Best Actress in a Television Series for her performance in the Apple TV+ series Pluribus. The show, created by Vince Gilligan, has been a critical success, following Seehorn’s character, Carol Sturka, as she navigates a world transformed by an alien virus.
Seehorn donned a sleek black leather dress for the event, accessorizing with gold star earrings. Other veterans of the industry were in attendance, including Denise Richards, who arrived in a vibrant one-shoulder yellow mini dress.
She was joined by her partner and former Starship Troopers co-star Patrick Muldoon. The ceremony also honored George Lucas with the Dr. Donald A. Reed Founder’s Award, while the Star Trek franchise was inducted into the Saturn Hall of Fame.
Cruise’s appearance at the awards comes during a significant pivot in his legendary career. He recently wrapped production on his latest collaboration with director Alejandro González Iñárritu, a psychological thriller titled Digger.
The film, which is slated for release on October 2, features an ensemble cast including Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, and Riz Ahmed. In Digger, Cruise plays a powerful man seeking redemption following a global disaster, marking a shift toward more introspective roles.
Meanwhile, he continues to support the theatrical industry, having recently entered a strategic partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery to develop both original and franchise films.
This deal allows him to maintain his long-standing relationship with Paramount for future Mission: Impossible and Top Gun projects. As the audience enjoyed the release of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on digital platforms, Cruise remains a tireless advocate for the cinematic experience.
His recent efforts to ensure large-scale films remain a priority for major studios have solidified his reputation as a protector of traditional filmmaking. Fans are eager to see how his new dramatic ventures will complement his storied legacy of high-octane action.
