Tom Holland on Being the Next James Bond: “I Already Consider Myself to Be the Luckiest Kid Alive”
Will Tom Holland be the next James Bond? The Spider-Man star has finally spoken about the rumors, and while he didn’t confirm anything, he didn’t exactly shut it down either.
Bond 26 has been in the works for years, but only recently have things started moving again. Earlier this year, longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepped away from the creative side.
Now Amazon is in full control, with David Heyman and Amy Pascal producing. Pascal, of course, has worked with Holland before on the Spider-Man movies, and she also produced Casino Royale. Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune and Prisoners, will direct the new film, while Steven Knight from Peaky Blinders is writing the script.
When the subject of the new Bond came up, Holland’s name was reportedly on a “wishlist” of possible actors. He was asked about it during a cooking video with Gordon Ramsay on YouTube. Ramsay joked about whether “James” might appear in Holland’s future. Holland laughed and replied, “There’s speculation at the minute, we’ll keep it to a minimum for now… we’ll get there one day.”
Ramsay pressed him further, asking how he would feel about taking on the role. Holland said, “Every young British actor, it’s the pinnacle of working in our industry. I already consider myself to be the luckiest kid alive. I could have never have dreamed to have the career I’ve had.”
This isn’t the first time Holland has been connected to Bond. In a recent interview, he shared that he once pitched an idea for a young James Bond film. “I had a meeting, after or during [Spider Man: Far From Home], with Sony to pitch this idea of a young Bond film that I’d come up with,” he said. “It was the origin story of James Bond. It didn’t really make sense. It didn’t work. It was the dream of a young kid, and I don’t think the Bond estate [was] particularly interested.”
Right now, no one knows who will officially take over from Daniel Craig, whose final Bond outing was No Time To Die in 2021. Names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson have been thrown around, but nothing is confirmed. With Villeneuve on board and Knight writing, fans are eager to see where the franchise will go.
There’s no release date yet, no official title, and still no word on who will be wearing the tuxedo.
For now, the future of James Bond is still a mystery, but it sounds like Tom Holland wouldn’t mind being part of it.
