Tom Holland has recently been seen navigating his social life with a bit of extra hardware, sparking curiosity about his current physical health. On Wednesday evening, February 25, the 29-year-old actor was spotted leaving the popular Beverly Hills sushi spot Matsuhisa.

While he appeared to be in good spirits as he chatted with friends, fans quickly noticed that he was wearing a black orthopedic walking boot on his left foot. At this stage, the exact cause of the foot injury remains unknown, as Holland has not yet addressed the situation publicly.

However, this is not the first time the actor has dealt with physical setbacks on the job recently. While filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the United Kingdom this past September, Holland reportedly suffered a mild concussion after a stunt did not go as planned.

While that head injury required a short break from the set, it is unrelated to the current issue with his foot or ankle. Despite the temporary setback, the actor has a monumental summer ahead of him with two of the year’s biggest blockbusters arriving in theaters just weeks apart.

He is first set to appear in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated epic The Odyssey, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 17. Shortly after, he will return to his most famous role when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits the big screen on July 31.

Beyond these two massive releases, Holland has been keeping a relatively busy schedule, both on and off the screen. He was recently a frequent visitor to the set of Euphoria Season 3 to support his fiancée, Zendaya, who stars in the acclaimed HBO drama.

He has also been linked to several upcoming projects, including rumors of a role in a live-action adaptation of a popular video game, though nothing has been officially confirmed. In The Odyssey, which serves as a grand retelling of Homer’s epic poem, Holland takes on the role of Telemachus, the determined son of Odysseus, played by Matt Damon.

The film features an incredible ensemble cast, including Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Zendaya as Athena, and Robert Pattinson as Antinous. This project is particularly noteworthy as it is the first film in history to be shot entirely with IMAX 70mm cameras, promising a visual experience unlike anything audiences have seen before.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks a fresh start for Peter Parker following the events of No Way Home. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the fourth solo outing for Holland’s Spider-Man is set to introduce new characters to the MCU, including Sadie Sink and Tramell Tillman.

The film reportedly features more “old-school” practical stunts, which may explain the high physical toll the production has taken on its lead actor. Holland has often spoken about his dedication to performing his own stunts, a trait that has earned him praise from both fans and fellow actors.

While his recent string of injuries suggests he is truly giving these roles his all, it seems he is taking the necessary steps to recover before he heads out on a massive global press tour this summer.
