[Trailer] New Look At ‘Good Boy’ Hints at One of the Scariest Dog Movies Ever
The trailer for Good Boy, a new supernatural horror film, has just been released, giving fans a first look at one of the scariest dog movies to come. The film is directed by Ben Leonberg, marking his first time directing a feature, and it has a unique twist, it tells the haunted house story through the eyes of a dog named Indy, who is Leonberg’s real-life dog.
The story follows Todd, played by Shane Jensen, who moves into an old farmhouse after losing a family member. The house once belonged to his grandfather, played by Larry Fessenden, and it is said to be haunted. Todd doesn’t believe in the ghost stories, but Indy starts noticing strange and frightening events that no one else can see.

Indy can’t communicate the dangers to Todd, so the dog has to figure out how to protect his owner. The tension builds as Indy’s loyalty and bravery are tested in a house full of supernatural threats.
Critics have been impressed with the film so far. They praised it for a fresh take on the horror genre and for creating a strong emotional connection between viewers and Indy. Leonberg shot many scenes from the dog’s eye level to make the audience feel closer to Indy’s experience.
According to reports, the dog’s performance was entirely natural, with no CGI or special effects used.
The cast also includes Arielle Friedman as Todd’s sister and Stuart Rudin in a supporting role. The movie was independently made by Leonberg and Kari Fischer in upstate New York and has a runtime of about 72 minutes, making it a short but intense experience.
Good Boy has already received strong reviews. Rotten Tomatoes reports a 95% positive rating from 20 critics. In May 2025, Shudder acquired the rights to distribute the film in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Good Boy combines a haunted house story with a unique dog’s perspective, and with Indy’s standout performance, it could quickly become a favorite for horror fans and dog lovers alike.
“It was important to show the world through Indy’s eyes,” Leonberg said in a recent interview with SI Media. “We wanted the audience to feel what the dog feels, and Indy delivered every single time.”
