Donald Trump did not hold back in his reaction to Bad Bunny’s 2026 Super Bowl halftime performance. Shortly after the Apple Music Halftime Show ended on Sunday, February 9, Trump posted on Truth Social, criticizing the Puerto Rican artist’s set.

Trump called the show “absolutely terrible” and “disgusting.” He added, “The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.” He also criticized the language and the dancing, writing, “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”

The president continued, calling the performance a “slap in the face” to the country and linking it to broader cultural issues. He concluded with, “There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD — And, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Trump’s reaction sharply contrasts with Bad Bunny’s message during the show. At the end of his performance, the singer said, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.” The halftime set showcased his Puerto Rican culture and told a story of love, aiming to bring a positive message to football’s biggest night.

Trump has been critical of Bad Bunny for some time. The singer has been outspoken against the president’s immigration policies. At the 2026 Grammys, Bad Bunny criticized ICE, and he also avoided U.S. stops on his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour because of concerns over possible ICE raids.

The halftime show took place during Super Bowl LX, where the Seattle Seahawks faced the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The game drew a large celebrity audience and massive media coverage.

This moment highlights how differently people interpret entertainment and cultural performances. While Bad Bunny aimed to spread love and celebrate his heritage, Trump focused on criticizing the content and style. I think it’s a reminder of how polarizing big events like the Super Bowl can be.
