‘Tulsa King’ Recap Ahead of Dwight Manfredi’s Return to Paramount+
The fourth season of Sylvester Stallone’s crime drama is set to premiere on October 16, 2026, with new episodes arriving every Friday on Paramount+. For viewers who have been away from Oklahoma for a while, a refresher on how Dwight Manfredi got here is worth the time. The first three seasons are available to stream on Paramount+ for anyone who wants to catch up.
This ‘Tulsa King’ recap covers the major turning points from each season, from Dwight’s exile to the fall of his latest rival. It also looks at what the new season has promised so far, so you can walk into the premiere with the full picture.
‘Tulsa King’ Season 1 Recap and the Exile to Oklahoma
After Dwight was released from prison, Chickie Invernizzi and family boss Pete Invernizzi came up with the idea of sending him to Tulsa to set up shop. Dwight was blindsided by the news that his New York mob family had nothing left for him, and he was sent to Oklahoma anyway. The arrangement was meant to sideline him, but it did not stay that way for long.
Once settled in his new surroundings, Dwight wasted no time making associates. His business began to thrive, and the family grew more interested in taking a larger share of his success. He also recruited family consigliere Goodie Carangi to his own crew, which left Chickie even more frustrated.
A flashback late in the season revealed what sent Dwight to prison 25 years earlier. The season closed with Dwight under arrest. It was a pointed ending for a character who had built something new only to see it threatened almost immediately.
‘Tulsa King’ Season 2 Recap and the Kansas City Threat
The second season picked up right after the arrest, and Dwight was released at his arraignment after Tina posted a three million dollar bail. Margaret then introduced him to businessman Cal Thresher, who felt threatened by Dwight from the start. By the end of the premiere, Thresher had called a mobster named Bevilaqua to tell him Dwight was in town.
Dwight was eventually found not guilty, though Chickie’s influence played a part in a plot to set him up. Bill Bevilaqua, who runs the Kansas City branch of the Mafia, considered Tulsa his territory and objected to New York expanding west. The tension between the two men carried much of the season.
The finale brought the conflict to a head. Bevilaqua demanded half of Dwight’s business, and Chickie arrived in Tulsa demanding to see him. When Chickie was dismissive of Bevilaqua in front of Dwight, Bevilaqua shot him in the head, and Dwight immediately offered him half of the business. Paramount+ reported that the season premiere drew more than 21 million viewers.
Season 3 Finale Recap and the Fall of Jeremiah Dunmire
The third season launched on September 21, 2025, and its finale aired on November 23, 2025. The season found Dwight feuding with a vicious liquor magnate over a distillery. That rival was Jeremiah Dunmire, played by Robert Patrick.
In the finale, Jeremiah kidnapped Joanne, and Cole helped Dwight raid the estate. Dwight rescued her, burned Jeremiah alive, and secured his alcohol license. The episode, titled “Jesus Lizard,” closed out the Dunmire feud while planting the seeds for a political thriller. Samuel L. Jackson also guest starred as Russell, a character sent to kill Dwight.
The ending was not entirely tidy. It remained unknown what Thresher would do while in power, even though he was in Dwight’s pocket. An exchange between Musso and Dwight also hinted at where their dynamic is headed next.
What the Season 4 Premiere Sets Up for Dwight
The new season finds Dwight trying to make his operations legal, which will not be easy. Corrupt local politicians and powerful new criminal groups are moving against him, and he suffers a devastating personal loss while dealing with an unresolved debt involving FBI Agent Musso. That political angle lines up with the direction the finale pointed toward.
Gretchen Mol joins the main cast as Amanda Clark, while Richie Stephens plays a rival crime supplier named English Dan. Mol’s character is a Tulsa politician. The returning cast also includes Martin Starr, Jay Will, Vincent Piazza, Annabella Sciorra, Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington and Frank Grillo.
Behind the scenes, Terence Winter is taking the reins back following the exit of Dave Erickson, who reportedly stepped down after creative disagreements with Stallone. The wider franchise is also growing, with the spinoff ‘Frisco King’ in development and starring Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr. With Dwight now chasing legitimacy while old debts and new politicians close in, which of his many enemies do you think poses the biggest risk to the empire he has built in Tulsa?
