‘Undead Unluck’ Season 2: Will It Happen?
Undead Unluck is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshifumi Tozuka, which has been ongoing since January 20, 2020, and has now been collected in 18 volumes as of the time of writing. The story is a supernatural adventure filled with humor and follows a young woman named Fuuko Izumo, who has the bad luck of initiating “unluck” in anyone she comes into contact with and an “undead” man she named Andy, who is sick of his immortality and wants to die the best death ever. The two of them are soon tasked with discovering the mysteries of their world. The first season of the anime adaptation is currently underway, and fans want to know whether there will be a second one, which is what we will tell you in this article.
What do we know about a potential Season 2 of Undead Unluck?
The original Undead Unluck manga series began publication on January 20, 2020, and has since been collected into 18 volumes. Although the quality of the story is not that high, the series has gathered a loyal and relatively large fanbase that enjoys the quirky humor and the fanservice provided by Undead Unluck. This is why, for years, there had been speculations about an anime adaptation, and Undead Unluck was actually – for a time – one of the most highly anticipated manga that has yet to receive an anime adaptation. But all of that changed!
In August 2022, it was announced that the series would receive an anime adaptation produced and planned by TMS Entertainment and animated by David Production. The series is directed by Yūki Yase, with character designs by Hideyuki Morioka and music composed by Kenichirō Suehiro. It premiered on October 7, 2023, in the Super Animeism programming block on MBS and TBS. The series will be divided into two separate cours, as has been confirmed. The opening theme is “01”, performed by Queen Bee, while the ending theme is “Know Me…” performed by Kairi Yagi.
As far as things stand now, a second season of Undead Unluck is not wholly unlikely, but we’ll have to wait a bit to see what happens, as it is not certain that it is going to be renewed.
When could Season 2 of Undead Unluck potentially be released?
As for a potential release date, we don’t really know much yet. Undead Unluck premiered in October 2023, and as of the time of writing, we still don’t know when it is going to end or how many episodes it is going to have, at least not officially. The series will probably end in late 2023 or early 2024, so a second season, if it is produced, probably won’t air soon. Here is what we know so far:

Based on that and our knowledge of the anime industry in general, we think that if a second season is confirmed, it will most likely premiere not before 2025, as it takes some time to produce high-quality content, and with Undead Unluck being so popular, we assume that fans will only want the best.
What could Undead Unluck Season 2 be about?
At this moment, we do not know how far the second season of Undead Unluck could take us because we don’t know how many additional chapters of the original manga series the season could potentially adapt. In order to properly assess that, we will first have to wait until the current (first) season is over, which is when we will know the starting point of a potential second season.
Based on what we know from other anime series, the second season of Undead Unluck will most certainly continue where the first one left off, if it is renewed. Now, due to the fact that the first season is still not over, we don’t really know where it is going to end, so we cannot even conjecture about the start of the second season, but we are going to update this article once more information is made available.
