Untitled Marvel Movie Rumored to Start Filming in Fall 2025—Here Are 3 Top Candidates!

Marvel recently updated its release schedule for 2024, 2025, and beyond. 2025 will be packed with both live-action and animated releases, with many projects already in production or set to begin soon.

The studio’s filming schedule is busy, with Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, and Vision Quest all expected to start filming in 2025, mostly in England.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman recently revealed that there’s one more Marvel project planned to begin filming in the UK in the fall of 2025.

This information was shared through Richtman’s paid newsletter and hasn’t been officially confirmed by Marvel. With so many rumored and confirmed projects in the works, it’s hard to keep track, but there are a few movies that seem more likely than others.

One possibility for the untitled movie is Shang-Chi 2. In December 2021, Marvel announced a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, with Destin Daniel Cretton returning as writer and director. Simu Liu is also expected to reprise his role as Shang-Chi. Filming was initially set to begin in March 2025, but there have been very few updates since then.

Recently, Liu shared a workout video, which led fans to speculate that he might be preparing to return to his MCU role. Shang-Chi 2 would fit perfectly into the 2025 schedule, especially since the movie is rumored to be release between Doomsday and Secret Wars. The Ten Rings are also believed to play a major role in the Multiverse Saga, similar to how the Infinity Stones were central to the previous phases.

The second likely movie is Doctor Strange 3. In recent months, there have been many rumors about this sequel. Benedict Cumberbatch will return, and Charlize Theron’s Clea is expected to have a bigger role. The film is reportedly set to explore a faction called the Black Priests and feature Dormammu, as Strange works to fix the “incursions” he has caused.

Some reports even suggested that Denzel Washington was considered for the role of Dormammu, though he later confirmed that Ryan Coogler is writing a role for him in Black Panther 3.

Given Doctor Strange’s rumored role and importance in the Multiverse Saga, Doctor Strange 3 seems like a strong contender for this filming slot.

The third possible movie is likely to be one of the MCU’s darkest productions—Blade.

In May 2013, Marvel Studios began developing a new Blade film after regaining the rights. In February 2019, Mahershala Ali expressed interest in playing Blade, and Marvel officially announced the project with Ali in July 2019. Ali also made a brief voice cameo as Blade in Eternals (2021).

In February 2021, Stacy Osei-Kuffour was hired to write the script, and Bassam Tariq was chosen to direct. However, Tariq left the project in 2022 due to changes in production and creative differences. Yann Demange was brought in to direct in November 2022, with multiple script rewrites by different writers. Demange also exited the production in March 2024.

Filming was originally planned to take place in Mexico, the UK, and Atlanta, but in October 2024, Blade was removed from the release schedule.

Despite this, Kevin Feige reassured fans that the studio is still actively working on the film, and that Ali will still star. If the script is completed, we can likely expect filming to begin in fall 2025.
