Highly Controversial & Inappropriate Fan Request Made to ‘The Boys’ Star Valorie Curry Reportedly Revealed
‘The Boys’ recently released its fourth season, and while it was heavily criticized online for being overly political and with a notable drop in the quality of writing, it was also a massive success as evidenced by the official viewership numbers. One of the reasons why fans tuned into season 4 was the addition of new characters, Firecracker played by Valorie Curry, and Sister Sage played by Susan Heyward.
Firecracker was a terrific addition to the show as the character was marked by conspiracy theories and far-right propaganda, and it was confirmed that she was inspired by republican conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Now Valorie Curry is currently one of the most popular ‘The Boys’ characters in general, so it’s no wonder that she is present at fan conventions. One recent fan convention however was marked by a highly distasteful experience in which the actress herself felt like she needed to call out on social media.
Valorie Curry, attending the Northern Ireland Comic Con in Belfast, faced unacceptable behavior from two individuals posing as fans. Although the actress hasn’t detailed the incidents, she has clearly condemned the inappropriate actions in a video posted online.
“Hey guys. Just got back from the first day of Comic-Con in Northern Ireland, Belfast. And by and large, everyone was fantastic, I’ve only just started doing these conventions on my own and everyone for the most part has been so lovely, kind and respectful. (…) We do need to talk about boundaries and what is appropriate in terms of behaviour.
I know people saw a character that I played do some pretty extreme things – on The Boys. I don’t care if you’re in costume. I don’t care if you are in character. It’s not okay and it’s not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth.
It’s not okay. Frankly, to the person who did that repeatedly today, I made it pretty clear that it wasn’t okay and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry. I didn’t think this needed to be explained, but I was deeply uncomfortable. It was quite clear I was uncomfortable. I really want to be able to do [conventions].
I really enjoy getting to meet the fans and talk about the characters that I played – honestly, I really love it. I want to be able to do this. I’m not going to be able to do [conventions] if people are acting this way because it makes me so uncomfortable and honestly you should know better. Everybody else knows better, and again, I don’t know what reaction you were looking for [because] nobody was laughing.”
While the original incident wasn’t revealed by the actress, some additional info was revealed by fans who were presumably at the convention. The incident in question happened when Curry was approached by a fan in a Homelander outfit who asked that the actress breastfeed him.
The request was an attempt to emulate a popular scene from the latest season of the show. You see Curry’s character somehow finds out that Homelander has a breast milk fetish and takes medicine to induce lactation so she can presumably “get on his good side” by breastfeeding him. It was a highly controversial scene and a throwback to earlier seasons in which we’ve seen that Homelander’s weakness is breast milk.
Allegedly, the fan dressed as Homelander came with a friend who encouraged the behavior.
This sounds like a widely inappropriate request and something that security should have handled with haste. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
