‘Verity’ Star Anne Hathaway’s (43) Daring ‘Window’ Maternity Look Proves She’s Rewriting the Pregnancy Style Rules

Anne Hathaway has spent much of this year on the promotional trail, and she’s done it while expecting her third child. The actress announced her pregnancy on Instagram on June 19 in a video set to Barbara Lewis’s ‘Baby, I’m Yours’. Since then, Anne Hathaway’s maternity style has become a story all its own.

Her latest round of appearances has centered on ‘Verity’, the psychological thriller adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel, in which she plays bestselling author Verity Crawford. The film opens in theaters on October 2, marking her fifth and final press tour of the year.

On Wednesday, September 30, Hathaway stepped out in New York for an appearance on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’. She wore an off-the-shoulder black ensemble with a sheer panel that revealed her baby bump, a design Page Six described as having a built-in window. The outlet noted that the semi-sheer top framed her belly with long swaths of fabric draped on either side.

Photos from the outing show Hathaway beaming behind dark sunglasses, with her long brunette hair worn loose as she waved to photographers. The flowing black trousers continued the column-like silhouette, keeping the overall effect sleek and dramatic.

The television appearance followed the film’s New York premiere at AMC Lincoln Square on September 29. For that event, she wore a custom black Atelier Prabal Gurung gown with a sheer cape, along with Bvlgari jewels. The strapless dress featured a sweetheart neckline and floral beading, then flared into a full pleated tulle skirt with embroidered sequins.

At the premiere, Hathaway kept a hand on her bump for several photos and shared a warm hug with co-star Dakota Johnson. Josh Hartnett also joined the cast on the carpet as the thriller prepared for its theatrical debut.

The sheer daytime look is just one entry in an impressively varied run. On September 18, she arrived at a ‘Verity’ press junket in a bright red short-sleeve dress featuring exaggerated lettuce trim around the waist and hem. A day earlier, she wore a black knitted halter dress that hugged her bump.

Her style choices have spanned several designers over the past few months. During the ‘Verity’ tour, she has also worn a figure-hugging Cult Gaia dress and a vibrant Carolina Herrera look. For ‘The Odyssey’ press run, she favored flowing shapes like a Prada look in New York and a blue chiffon Dior gown in London.

As with many bold fashion moves, the latest outfit drew mixed reactions online. While plenty of fans praised the look as chic and daring, at least one commenter replying to Page Six’s post questioned the choice entirely. Still, Hathaway has made it clear she isn’t shy about embracing her pregnancy in public.

That confidence has been consistent throughout the campaign. She has openly addressed the conversation surrounding her bump, and she and her husband, Adam Shulman, have chosen to keep their baby’s gender private.

The pregnancy has shaped her schedule in other ways, too. Hathaway was unable to travel overseas for the ‘Verity’ London premiere, so Johnson and Hartnett attended while she continued press from New York. Even so, she has remained one of the busiest stars in Hollywood this year.
