‘Verity’ Trailer Drops: Anne Hathaway Pulls Dakota Johnson Into a Chilling Mystery
Amazon MGM Studios has released the first teaser for “Verity,” a movie based on the popular psychological thriller by author Colleen Hoover. The news and details come from the studio’s official release and industry coverage of the teaser launch.
The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson, a writer who is struggling to get by. She gets a surprising job offer to finish a successful book series written by Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway, after Verity becomes unable to continue her work.
When Lowen arrives at the Crawford house, things quickly feel strange. She meets Verity’s husband Jeremy, played by Josh Hartnett, and starts to get close to him. While staying there, Lowen finds an unfinished manuscript that hints at dark and disturbing secrets about Verity.

The teaser focuses on the uneasy feeling inside the house. It shows Lowen walking into dark spaces while Verity lies sick in bed. At one point, Jeremy and Lowen share an intense moment, but the scene takes a strange turn when it appears that Verity herself is somehow involved.
Verity’s voice is heard in the trailer, saying, “Even with my generous warning, you’re going to continue to ingest my words. But know one thing: there is no light where we’re going. Darkness ahead.”

The movie is directed by Michael Showalter, who previously worked with Anne Hathaway on “The Idea of You.” The cast also includes Ismael Cruz Córdova and Brady Wagner.
“Verity” is part of a growing number of film adaptations based on Colleen Hoover’s books, which have become very popular online, especially through the BookTok community. Other recent adaptations include “It Ends with Us,” which was a big success at the box office, as well as “Regretting You” and “Reminders of Him,” both of which also performed well in theaters.
The film is expected to be released in cinemas on October 2.
