Victor Wembanyama has turned Halloween into one of the NBA’s most anticipated fashion moments. Since entering the league, the San Antonio Spurs star has made a habit of showing up to games in costumes that get basketball fans and pop culture fans talking.

As a rookie in 2023, he arrived in Phoenix in a Slender Man-inspired outfit before the Spurs edged the Suns 115-114. The next year, he wore an all-black outfit with the white No-Face mask from Studio Ghibli’s ‘Spirited Away’ in Salt Lake City, then put up 25 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals and 5 blocks in a 106-88 win over the Jazz.

This year, Wembanyama brought the tradition home. He showed up to the Frost Bank Center on Halloween dressed as Geralt of Rivia, the monster-hunting hero of ‘The Witcher’, before the Spurs faced the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The look featured a long white wig, boots, a cape, and 2 swords. Video of his arrival shows him striding down a white arena hallway beneath an exit sign, his towering frame making the costume even more dramatic.

The NBA shared the footage with the caption “Wemby the Witcher!” Yahoo Sports reported that as he reached the tunnel to the locker room, he dropped the costume off with a flourish.

The choice wasn’t random. ‘The Witcher’ is Wembanyama’s favorite book series, and in an Instagram video he called it a great series and said that after reading 7 of the books, the characters feel like friends or family to him.

In an earlier video, Wembanyama described the books as a mix of epic fantasy and deep psychological character study. Geralt, the series’ central character, hunts monsters for pay.

The costume also marked a comeback for one of the league’s favorite traditions. Wembanyama skipped dressing up in 2025, explaining that the Spurs didn’t have a game on Halloween that year.

This was also the first time he celebrated the holiday at a home game, after his 2 previous costumes came on the road. His teammates joined in too, with De’Aaron Fox and his family dressing as ‘Toy Story’ characters and Keldon Johnson continuing his tradition of going as a cowboy.

Fans quickly flooded social media with praise. One wrote that he “kills it every year,” while another called the look “unbelievably peak,” though at least one fan argued that nothing beats his rookie-year Slender Man.

Once the costume came off, Wembanyama delivered on the court as well. He scored 43 points as the Spurs beat the Timberwolves 121-111. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year and 2-time All-Star is also coming off being named MVP of the Western Conference Finals. His Halloween performances are quickly becoming as memorable as his costumes.

The timing is a fun one for Witcher fans. Netflix’s adaptation is heading into its final season, with Liam Hemsworth playing Geralt after taking over the role from Henry Cavill. The fifth and final season wrapped production in September 2025, but Netflix has reportedly moved its release to 2027. Until then, Wembanyama’s arena entrance gives fans a very tall take on the White Wolf.

Which of Victor Wembanyama’s Halloween costumes is your favorite?
