Vincent D’Onofrio, best known for his roles as “Gomer” Pyle in Full Metal Jacket and Robert Goren in Law & Order: Criminal Intent, has a devoted fan base for his portrayal of Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, in Marvel’s Daredevil.

While he is set to return as Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, D’Onofrio has revealed that he is also interested in joining Warner’s DC Universe.

A year ago, during an appearance at Dragon Con, reported by @JeremyJLop on X, D’Onofrio talked about his love for comic book characters.

While he praised Marvel, given his current work there, he shared his excitement about a DC character he would like to play. “I don’t know if you guys are into DC [Comics] like I am. Obviously, I’m into Marvel, too, because that’s my job. My comic books when I was a kid was Captain America, Spider-Man, Swamp Thing, and Batman. So Swamp Thing.”

D’Onofrio recently confirmed his interest again on X, responding to a fan poll about him playing Swamp Thing with a simple, “Yes he should.”

Swamp Thing is set to appear in a new DCU film that will explore the character’s dark origins in a gothic horror style. James Mangold is attached to write and direct the film, which is inspired by Alan Moore’s 1984–85 comic run, The Saga of the Swamp Thing. Mangold’s involvement was confirmed after he completed work on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and A Complete Unknown.

The film is considered a passion project for Mangold, who is balancing other projects, including a planned Star Wars film.

Although the Swamp Thing movie is expected to be darker in tone than other DCU entries, James Gunn and Peter Safran have confirmed that it will be connected to the broader DC Universe, keeping it part of the larger cinematic world.

Vincent D’Onofrio joining the project would be an exciting move for both fans of the actor and the DCU. His interest aligns perfectly with the upcoming Swamp Thing film, making it a real possibility that he could take on the role.

D’Onofrio would bring depth and intensity to Swamp Thing, just as he did with Kingpin. It would be fascinating to see him step into the DC Universe. What do you think, should Vincent D’Onofrio play Swamp Thing? Share your thoughts in the comments.
