Marvel fans have spent years trying to keep track of where every new MCU project fits in the ever-growing timeline. With movies and Disney+ shows now jumping between different points in time, figuring out what happens when can sometimes feel almost as complicated as the stories themselves. Now, VisionQuest has given fans a much clearer answer, and its place in the MCU could be more interesting than expected.

The upcoming Disney+ series will take place around the same period as Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That information comes directly from VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas, who discussed the show’s timeline with Polygon. While this does not mean Spider-Man and Vision are automatically going to meet, it does put the two projects much closer together than many fans may have expected.

VisionQuest is the next chapter in the story that started with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. This time, the focus moves back to Paul Bettany’s White Vision, who has been trying to understand who he really is and what kind of life he wants after everything that happened in Westview. The series takes place years after WandaVision, giving Marvel a chance to explore a very different version of the character.

According to Matalas, VisionQuest is set roughly around the same time as Brand New Day. The Spider-Man movie is confirmed to take place in 2028, which means VisionQuest will be happening much later in the MCU timeline than the original WandaVision series. That makes it one of the latest stories currently confirmed in the franchise and puts it close to the events leading into Avengers: Doomsday.

That timeline detail may not sound like a huge revelation at first, but it gives fans an interesting piece of information about where Marvel is heading. The MCU is currently bringing several major characters and storylines together for its next Avengers movie, and Vision is a character with deep connections to some of the franchise’s biggest events. His history with Wanda, Tony Stark, Ultron, and the Avengers gives the character plenty of reasons to become important again as the MCU moves toward its next major crossover.

Matalas has also suggested that VisionQuest will deal with some heavy emotional material. One of the show’s storylines is expected to give fans a new and painful look at the death of Tony Stark. That could be especially meaningful for Vision because his history is closely connected to Tony. Vision’s original personality was created from JARVIS, while his existence was also tied to the Mind Stone and the Avengers’ fight against Ultron.

The showrunner’s comments do not confirm that VisionQuest will directly cross over with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Sharing the same time period does not necessarily mean that the characters will appear together or that the two stories will connect in a major way. Marvel has often placed different projects close together on its timeline without making their plots directly overlap.

Still, the timing is worth paying attention to. Brand New Day is already being treated as a major moment for Spider-Man, while VisionQuest is bringing back a character who has been missing from the center of the MCU for years. Having both stories happen around 2028 gives Marvel plenty of opportunities to build connections if the studio decides they are needed.

There is also the bigger question of Avengers: Doomsday. VisionQuest is expected to arrive before the next Avengers movie, which means fans will be watching the series with an eye on what it could set up. Marvel has not confirmed exactly how Vision fits into the upcoming crossover, but placing his story this late in the timeline could make his return more important than it first appears.

VisionQuest is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on October 14. Until then, Marvel is keeping most of the show’s biggest story details hidden. For now, the biggest confirmed piece of the puzzle is that Vision’s next chapter is happening around the same time as Spider-Man’s latest adventure. Whether that is simply a timeline detail or the beginning of something much bigger is something fans will have to wait to discover.

What do you think VisionQuest will reveal about Vision?
