‘VisionQuest’ Promo Hides a Secret Message: “All This Family Does Is Lie”

Marvel has always loved hiding secrets in plain sight, and the ‘VisionQuest’ marketing team is clearly having fun with it. The Disney+ series, which wraps up the trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’, has kept fans hunting for clues at every turn.

The show follows Paul Bettany’s resurrected Vision, living in hiding and struggling with memories he no longer feels connected to. A bounty forces him on the run alongside a mysterious young man who may be his reincarnated son, and the story’s focus on fatherhood carries forward the trilogy’s theme of parenthood.

The latest clue appeared on the official ‘WandaVision’ Instagram account. The new post includes a hidden code that fans quickly decoded to read “All this family does is lie.” The post’s artwork is moody and cinematic. One image shows a young man sitting alone in a dim room, gazing toward a window, while another frames a table with a single glass beside the tagline “Nothing bonds family together quite like mortal jeopardy.”

A glitchy strip of digital code runs along the bottom of both images, matching the show’s eerie tech-driven style. For a family defined by secrets and illusions, the message feels especially pointed.

The family in question includes one of the season’s breakout characters. Ruaridh Mollica plays Tommy Maximoff, one of Wanda and Vision’s twin sons, who vanished when the Westview Hex fell.

‘Agatha All Along’ revealed that the boys had real souls that lived on. Billy placed Tommy’s soul in the body of Thomas Shepherd, a bullied young man with no family to look after him.

In ‘VisionQuest’, Tommy is an 18-year-old who has just left London’s foster care system and works as a small-time con artist with Lisa Molinari. When he meets Vision, he doesn’t recognize him and initially assumes he’s a delusion, which gives the “lie” message plenty of meaning.

Their reunion was set in motion by the bounty hunter Paladin. He captured Tommy and sent Vision footage of the young man describing memories of Wanda and Vision, sparking a road trip between father and son.

Critics have praised Mollica’s performance and his chemistry with Bettany. Even before the series premiered, fans were drawn to the character, with many noting a strong resemblance to Chris Evans when Marvel released the first still of Tommy.

The hidden message has also fueled speculation about Tommy’s twin. Mollica recently told Entertainment Tonight that he had shared a set with Joe Locke and filmed scenes with him for the MCU.

Locke played Billy as the mysterious “Teen” in ‘Agatha All Along’, whose finale sent him looking for his brother. Marvel hasn’t said which episode Billy appears in or when the brothers will reunite.

Wanda won’t appear in the series, and returns for Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha and Elizabeth Olsen haven’t been confirmed. That leaves plenty of room for surprises before the season ends.

‘VisionQuest’ premiered on Disney+ on October 14, with 8 episodes in total. With the season now heading into its final episodes, Marvel’s marketing appears designed to raise the tension around the fractured Maximoff family.

The cast also includes James Spader as Ultron, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, and T’Nia Miller as Jocasta. Showrunner Terry Matalas has described the series as more of a direct sequel to ‘WandaVision’.

If the hidden message is a hint, the remaining episodes could reveal more about the lies holding this family together. Fans will soon find out whether the truth brings them closer or tears them apart.
