‘War’ Episode 2 Release Date, Time, Where to Watch and Preview

Viewers planning ahead for the second episode of ‘War’ have a clear date to mark. The episode is titled “No More Nasty Surprises” and is scheduled for October 8, one week after the series premiered on HBO and HBO Max.

The legal drama has drawn attention for its leads and its premise. Dominic West and Sienna Miller play tech titan Morgan Henderson and film star Carla Duval, and their divorce pits two rival London law firms against each other. Here is what to know about the schedule, the streaming options and what the next chapter may bring.

‘War’ Second Episode Release Date and Weekly Schedule

The second episode was directed by Ben Taylor and written by George Kay, who also created the series. It lands on October 8, which keeps the show on a steady weekly rhythm.

The first season runs for eight episodes, and new installments air on Thursdays. The third episode, “Chip Off the Block,” follows on October 15, with the season finale listed for November 19.

There is no all at once option here. The season is released weekly rather than all at once, so viewers will need to keep pace with the schedule.

The series is planned as an anthology about headline making legal battles, and a second season has already been greenlit. That gives this first story a defined shape, with a clear endpoint in November.

Release Time for the Second Episode

HBO airs new episodes at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time. The listing for the Thursday slot reads 9/8c, which means 8 p.m. for viewers in the Central time zone.

Viewers in the UK on Sky and NOW began the series on October 2, a day after the American debut. Readers outside the US should check their local Sky or HBO Max listing for the exact time of the second episode in their region.

Where to Watch ‘War’ in the US and Abroad

In the United States, the series airs on HBO and streams on HBO Max. That makes the weekly broadcast and the streaming library the two main ways to follow along.

International viewers have several routes. ‘War’ streams on HBO Max in Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, France and Belgium, according to Deadline.

In Europe, the show runs through Sky. It is available on Sky and NOW/WOW in the U.K., Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The series is produced by Banijay owned New Pictures and Observatory Pictures, which explains the shared Sky and HBO billing.

Second Episode Preview and What to Expect

Beyond the title, writer and director, details on the second episode are scarce in available listings, so the premiere offers the best guide. It opens with Morgan spending the night with a stranger, played by Rose Williams, in what turns out to be a honey trap staged by Carla.

Carla’s lawyers at Taylor & Byrne, Nick and Serena, and Morgan’s lawyers at Cathcarts, St. John and Beatrice, are soon pulled into the dispute. Morgan is not passive either, as he has a legal aide pose as a fan to serve his wife divorce papers on the red carpet.

Critical reception offers a hint of the road ahead. Metacritic lists a score of 74 from 12 critic reviews, which it describes as generally favorable. One review cited there calls the first episode irresistible but says later episodes lean on backroom legal meetings at the expense of West and Miller.

Judy Berman of Time writes that the series raises big issues such as extreme wealth and social media without finding much to say about them, while TechRadar found that the tension builds quickly but then stays at one level. Whether “No More Nasty Surprises” gives Carla and Morgan more room to spar face to face, or hands the spotlight back to their rival legal teams, is a question worth debating in the comments.
