‘War’ Episode 5 Release Date, Time, Where to Watch & Preview

Share:

The fifth episode of ‘War’ is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, and carries the title “Every Little Thing She Does.” The season contains eight episodes in total, which means the remaining chapters will decide how far the legal fight at its center can escalate.

‘War’ premiered on HBO and HBO Max in the United States on October 1, following rival London law firms Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne as they clash over the divorce of tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson and film star Carla Duval. Here is what viewers need to know about the timing, streaming options and story of the next ‘War’ episode.

‘War’ Release Date and Weekly Schedule

New episodes of ‘War’ air weekly on Thursday nights, with the first episode arriving on October 1 and the fourth, titled “Sing,” arriving on October 22. That puts the fifth episode on October 29, exactly one week after the most recent chapter.

The schedule has the sixth episode arriving on November 5, and the season finale is set for November 19. After the fifth episode, only three installments remain, so the pace of the story is likely to tighten.

Nothing in the season is released all at once. Viewers who want to stay current will need to tune in each Thursday rather than wait for a full season drop.

Release Time and Where to Watch ‘War’

In the United States, ‘War’ streams on HBO and HBO Max. The first episode aired at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, and new episodes have followed on a weekly basis. TV Guide also listed the series premiere on HBO at 9 p.m. Eastern and 8 p.m. Central.

Each installment runs roughly 60 minutes, which is in line with how the series has been scheduled throughout the season. That gives viewers a full hour of courtroom maneuvering and boardroom strategy each week.

In the United Kingdom, the series arrived on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on October 2. The show was ordered as a joint production between HBO and Sky, and it also streams on HBO Max in Australia and airs on Sky and the NOW and WOW services in Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Episode Preview and What the Story Sets Up

The official synopsis for the fifth episode says Carla and Morgan’s divorce goes public, which triggers a backlash against Carla while legal delays threaten to bankrupt her lawyers. That sets up pressure on two fronts, with public perception and financial survival both working against her side.

The preview also raises the stakes for the smaller firm. Taylor & Byrne is the rival to the larger Cathcarts & Sons, so any threat to its finances could change the balance of the entire case.

The fourth episode laid some of this groundwork. It showed Nick’s insecurities resurfacing during a crucial arbitration session while Morgan began to question the tactics used by Cathcarts. That doubt could shape how Morgan approaches the public fallout in the next hour.

Earlier episodes also built toward this point. The second episode saw a slip-up give Carla’s lawyers a chance to challenge the prenup, and the third made Morgan’s relationship with his stepson, Gabe, central to both firms’ plans.

Cast and Critical Reception for ‘War’

Dominic West plays Morgan Henderson and Sienna Miller plays Carla Duval, with a supporting cast that includes James McArdle, Phoebe Fox, Archie Renaux, Pip Torrens, Nina Sosanya, Celia Imrie and Nick Mohammed. The ensemble has been one of the series’ most discussed strengths.

The series comes from George Kay, who is also behind ‘Lupin’ and ‘Hijack.’ It is an anthology that has already been renewed for a second season, which is set to star Marisa Tomei and Kelly Macdonald.

Critics have offered a mix of praise and reservations. TheWrap noted that, unlike Kay’s earlier shows, the series has no action scenes and relies entirely on dramatic storytelling, while also praising the performances of Miller and West. TV Guide acknowledged the comparisons to ‘Succession’ and ‘Industry’ but argued the show pulls too many punches.

The series currently holds a Metascore of 74. With the divorce about to go public and Carla facing a backlash, will her struggling legal team survive the financial squeeze, or does Morgan’s firm finally gain the upper hand in ‘War’?
