Warner Bros. Hasn’t Had a $100 Million Domestic Hit in Over a Year
Warner Bros. closed out the summer of 2025 on a high note. ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ opened to more than $84 million in September 2025 and went on to earn $177.8 million domestically and nearly $500 million worldwide, giving the studio another major horror hit.
Since then, things have been much harder for the studio at the box office. A series of high-profile releases have struggled to connect with audiences, leaving Warner Bros. searching for its next big win.
Box office analyst Gitesh Pandya has highlighted just how long that wait has been. According to Pandya, Warner Bros. has now gone 13 consecutive months without a single new film reaching $100 million at the domestic box office.
He also pointed out that no new Warner Bros. release has even reached $90 million domestically in that time. The last film to clear the $100 million mark was ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ in September 2025.
That’s a striking stretch for one of Hollywood’s biggest studios. TheWrap noted that as of late October, no Warner Bros. film had grossed more than $250 million worldwide this year.
THIRTEEN That is the number of consecutive months WB has now gone without ANY new film reaching $100M at domestic #boxoffice! Or even $90M!! Last one was Conjuring: Last Rites from SEP 2025. 😱 1⃣3⃣ 😱

The studio’s biggest disappointment came over the summer. DC Studios’ ‘Supergirl’, directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, opened on June 26 to $38 million domestically and $68 million worldwide.
The film ended its run with $72.4 million in the U.S. and Canada and $126.4 million globally. With a reported net production budget of $170 million to $186 million, it fell well short of expectations.
Another major release, ‘Digger’, had an even tougher time. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s film starring Tom Cruise as Digger Rockwell opened on October 2 to just $8 million domestically.

According to The Numbers, the film has earned only $18 million in the U.S. so far. Its reported budget ranges from about $125 million to more than $160 million, making it one of the year’s most notable box office misfires.
There is some better news. DC Studios’ ‘Clayface’ opened on October 23 to $24 million domestically and $43 million globally, and audiences gave it an “A-” CinemaScore. The horror-leaning film was made for a reported $40 million, a much smaller budget than many superhero films.
It has earned about $44 million domestically and roughly $83 million worldwide so far, putting it on track to be a solid mid-budget success. TheWrap noted that ‘Clayface’ is Warner Bros.’ first release under Skydance ownership. Even so, it’s unlikely to come close to the $100 million domestic mark.

The studio’s next major opportunity will come from its upcoming slate. DC Studios is building toward 2027, with ‘Man of Tomorrow’ leading the way after the ‘Lanterns’ series on HBO Max. For now, the streak continues. Warner Bros. will be hoping its next big release can finally break through and give the studio the kind of hit it hasn’t had since the Warrens’ last case.
Which upcoming Warner Bros. movie do you think will finally end the studio's box office drought?
