[Watch] Jimmy Fallon Hilariously Weighs In on Jimmy Kimmel’s Suspension
Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show has been pulled off the air, and the news has set off a storm in the TV world. ABC confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been suspended indefinitely after backlash over remarks Kimmel made about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
According to reports, the Federal Communications Commission was involved in the pressure that led to ABC’s decision.
In a short statement, an ABC spokesperson said the show “will be pre-empted indefinitely” but gave no further explanation. Soon after, Nexstar, which owns a large group of ABC-affiliated stations, announced it would stop airing Kimmel’s show “for the foreseeable future.”
Sinclair Broadcast Group also said it would not run the program and that the time slot would instead be filled with a tribute to Charlie Kirk. Sinclair added that Kimmel should apologize directly to Kirk’s family and donate money to both them and Turning Point USA, the group Kirk founded.

The suspension quickly grabbed attention across the industry, and Jimmy Fallon was one of the first to react publicly.
On Instagram, the official account of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon shared a clip of his response. Fallon told his audience: “Well guys, the big story is that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC after pressure from the FCC leaving everyone thinking WTF. This morning I woke up to 100 text messages from my dad saying I’m sorry they cancelled your show. I go, that’s not me, that’s Jimmy Kimmel.”
“Uh, but to be honest with you all, I, I don’t know what’s going on. And no one does, but I do know Jimmy Kimmel, and he’s a decent, funny, and loving guy, and I hope he comes back.”
Fallon also made it clear that he wouldn’t hold back on his own show. “Yeah, a lot of people are worried that we won’t keep saying what we want to say or that we’ll be censored, but I’m going to cover the president’s trip to the UK just like I normally would.”
Later in the episode, Fallon carried on with his usual jokes, turning his focus to Donald Trump’s recent trip overseas. In his trademark style, he joked: “Well guys, President Trump just wrapped up his three-day trip to the UK, and he looked incredibly handsome. As always, his tie was exactly the right length. And his face looked like a colour that exists in nature. And his hair looked better than Conrad’s from ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty.’”
He also poked fun at Trump’s image being projected onto Windsor Castle alongside actor Jeff Goldblum. “Even though his administration still insists that he’s not in the Gold files. Which we all know is absolute bull.”

The controversy around Kimmel started with his remarks about Trump, which drew heavy criticism and put ABC under fire. The network, owned by Disney, announced the suspension on September 17. Since then, no clear timeline has been given for when or if the show might return. For now, fans are left wondering what’s next for Jimmy Kimmel Live! and what this means for late-night TV.
