Blake Lively is at the center of a legal dispute with Justin Baldoni over an on-set kissing scene in the movie It Ends With Us.

According to a new court filing, Baldoni claims that Lively added a kiss to a hallway scene that was not in the script.

The filing, shared by Wayfarer and others on November 13, included a short clip from May 2023. In it, Lively’s character, Lily, walks up to Baldoni’s character, neurosurgeon Ryle, in a hospital hallway. She apologizes for interrupting him and gives him a quick kiss before walking away, telling him she “happen[s] to love him too.” Ryle watches her leave with a surprised but amused expression and says, “Alright, cut.”

Baldoni’s lawyers said Lively performed the kiss in every take, even though the script did not include it. This comes during a larger legal battle: Lively sued Baldoni in December 2024 for sexual harassment and retaliation, while Baldoni countersued her, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and others for $400 million in January. That countersuit was later dismissed by a judge.

In her complaint, Lively accused the director of “improvised physical intimacy that had not been rehearsed, choreographed or discussed with Ms. Lively.”

After a meeting in January 2024 with producers and Reynolds, Wayfarer agreed to hire an intimacy coordinator and promised that no more kissing would be improvised. Baldoni’s team said only scripted kisses were filmed before the Hollywood strikes, but the May 13, 2023, scene occurred before the strike began.

Alleged texts between Baldoni and Colleen Hoover, the author of It Ends With Us, also emerged. In the messages, Hoover reportedly said she “felt forced to choose” between Lively and Baldoni and was “disappointed” in the director. These texts were filed by Wayfarer on November 10.
