[Watch] New ‘Wicked: For Good’ Teaser Welcomes Iconic Wizard of Oz Characters into the Story

A brand-new behind-the-scenes teaser for Wicked: For Good has been released, giving fans a closer look at the upcoming sequel and teasing the arrival of some of The Wizard of Oz’s most legendary characters.

The film picks up where Wicked: Part One left off and continues the journey of Elphaba and Glinda, played by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The teaser, shared by the official Wicked account on X, shows how these two characters fully step into their roles as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

The short featurette doesn’t just give a look at the main duo’s growing differences, it also reveals some very exciting additions. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the famous yellow brick road all make quick appearances. It’s the clearest sign yet that this film is diving deeper into the world of Oz as fans know it.

Two new posters have also been released:

Director Jon M. Chu returns for the sequel, working off a script by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. The movie adapts the second act of the original Wicked stage musical, which itself is based on Gregory Maguire’s book. Maguire’s novel is a unique take on L. Frank Baum’s classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, offering a more complex view of the story and its characters.

The teaser also shows off some impressive visuals, including sweeping shots of the Emerald City and the political chaos growing across Oz. As Elphaba fights for her beliefs and Glinda leans into her new image, the story promises more conflict and emotion. One major twist? The arrival of Dorothy Gale from Kansas, which adds even more tension to the already strained friendship between the two leads.

In the teaser, we see how the story blends magic, power, and politics in a way that builds on the first movie. According to Universal Pictures, Wicked: For Good continues Elphaba’s mission to stand up for the rights of Animals, while Glinda becomes a more public figure aligned with the Wizard’s agenda.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are joined again by Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Marissa Bode, and Ethan Slater. The cast also includes Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Sharon D. Clarke, among others. There’s even a special cameo from Kerry Ellis, a fan-favorite Elphaba from the Broadway and West End productions.

Filming began back in 2022 and wrapped in early 2024 after delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Wicked: For Good is set to hit theaters on November 21 of this year, thanks to Universal Pictures.

With this new teaser adding more excitement and mystery to what’s ahead, fans now have an even better idea of how Oz will be brought to life again. And with the classic characters entering the picture, the second chapter promises to be an unforgettable ride.
