“The Muppet Show” originally aired from 1976 to 1981 and became a global sensation, showing in over 100 countries. The series featured famous guest stars like Elton John, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, Debbie Harry, Gladys Knight, Liza Minnelli, and Paul Simon. During its run, the show won Emmys, Grammys, Peabodys, BAFTAs, and many other awards.
Time magazine even called it “the most popular television entertainment now being produced on Earth.” In 2026, the show will celebrate its 50th anniversary, and all five seasons are available to stream on Disney+.
Veteran Muppet performers will bring the characters to life in this new special. Dave Goelz, who has been performing with the Muppets for over 50 years and was part of the original show, will reprise iconic characters like Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew. Other performers include Bill Barretta, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel, along with a talented supporting team.
