[Watch] Tom Holland Swings Back in Full Suit on ‘Spider‑Man: Brand New Day’ Set
Tom Holland is back in action as Spider-Man, and fans are already buzzing with excitement. Filming for the new movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, kicked off on August 1, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. The working title for the shoot is “Blue Oasis,” and it’s being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with Brett Pawlak returning as cinematographer.
Filming had been expected to start earlier in the year, but schedules were shifted to fit around Holland’s other work. Before stepping back into the Spidey suit, Holland had been busy working on The Odyssey. Now, the cameras are rolling in the heart of Glasgow, which is standing in for New York City. Locations include the Merchant City area, George Square, and Trongate.
Fans watching from the streets have spotted one of the film’s big action sequences being shot. Some lucky fans even managed to meet Holland himself, fully suited up as Spider-Man.

Holland has spoken about how happy he is to be filming on real city streets again. “It feels like being back on Homecoming,” he said, remembering the first Spider-Man film he worked on. No Way Home had been mostly filmed on soundstages due to COVID-19 restrictions, so shooting in the open air again has brought back some of that early magic.
Set photos have given fans a few hints about the movie’s villains. Armored vehicles marked with a red demon logo were seen on set. Reports pointed out that the symbol looks like the one used by the Inner Demons gang in the comics. The group is led by Mister Negative, sparking rumors that this character could be making his live-action debut in the film.
After the Glasgow shoot wraps, production will move to Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, for more scenes on soundstages.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the fourth Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe starring Tom Holland, following 2021’s No Way Home. The cast also features Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando.
The movie is set for release in the United States on July 31, 2026. The date was moved from July 24 to give The Odyssey more time on IMAX screens before Spider-Man swings in. Fans will have to wait until next summer to see the full adventure, but with filming already giving us glimpses of the action, it’s safe to say the hype is building fast.
